Young LOVE

My husband and I been together since we were 13 years old. We met in middle school, I was a 7th grader and he was a 8th grader. The journey to where we are now has not been easy. We been together for almost 19 years and married for 11 of those. I would not change a single thing about the love we have for each other now. We continue to date each other and this has helped shaped our marriage. He is definitely my match made in heaven and I would do this life with him time after time. #lovestory #lemon8challenge

... Read moreIt’s truly surreal to look back and realize almost two decades have passed since my husband and I first crossed paths in middle school. Many people wonder how we’ve managed to keep our love thriving since we were just teenagers, and honestly, it boils down to a few key things we learned along the way. One of the biggest secrets, as I mentioned, is continually dating each other. It sounds simple, but life gets busy, and it's easy to let romance take a backseat. For us, this means setting aside dedicated time, just like when we were younger. It could be a weekly dinner date at our favorite spot, exploring a new cafe, or even just a quiet evening at home with no distractions, truly focusing on each other. We might recreate one of our first dates, bringing back those sweet, nostalgic feelings. These moments remind us why we fell in love in the first place and help us reconnect on a deeper level beyond the daily routines and responsibilities. Growing up together presented its own unique set of challenges. We evolved from kids to teenagers, then to young adults, and now, a mature, smiling Asian couple building our lives. Our interests changed, our personalities developed, and we sometimes wondered if we were still compatible with the person we had committed to so young. The key was allowing each other the space to grow independently while growing together. We learned to communicate openly about our evolving dreams and fears, ensuring we were always a team. This wasn't always easy; there were definitely moments of doubt and disagreements, but we committed to working through everything. We believe that true love isn't just finding the perfect person, but imperfectly loving someone perfectly. Effective communication, for us, has been about active listening – truly hearing what the other person is saying, not just waiting for our turn to speak. It also means being vulnerable and expressing needs and feelings without fear of judgment. Another vital aspect of our 'happily ever after' has been mutual respect and unwavering support. We championed each other's goals, celebrated small victories, and provided a safe space to fail and learn. He pushed me to be my best self, and I did the same for him, often being each other's biggest cheerleaders. We faced career changes, personal struggles, and life's unexpected curveballs, always knowing we had a steadfast partner in our corner. We learned that being a partnership means lifting each other up, even when it’s hard, and sometimes, especially then. It’s about building a shared life while still nurturing individual identities. We both have our own friends, hobbies, and passions, which we bring back into our relationship, enriching our shared experiences. And finally, laughter – so much laughter! Finding joy in the everyday things, being silly, and creating new memories constantly fills our relationship with light. We make it a point to find humor in situations, which often eases tension and brings us closer. This 'Storytime' is just a glimpse into our journey, but I hope it inspires others to cherish their relationships, no matter how or when they started. Every love story is unique, and with consistent effort, open hearts, and genuine love, yours can certainly be a 'happily ever after' too. Remember, the journey itself, with all its ups and downs, is what truly makes the destination so rewarding.
