My dms here and on TikTok 😂
Anyone else? Lol
OMG, after sharing my last post about my TikTok DMs, so many of you reacted! It's clear I'm not the only one whose inbox gets flooded with unexpected message requests after posting content, even just for fun. It started with a simple 'POV: When you post TikToks for fun and your inbox is full of 'hello gorgeous' and 'can I ask you a question?'' and honestly, it resonated with so many of you! It’s pretty wild, right? You put out a fun video, maybe something quirky or just sharing a slice of life, and suddenly your TikTok message requests are popping off. You open them up and it's a mix – sometimes genuine compliments, sometimes a vague 'can I ask you a question?', and yes, often the classic 'hello gorgeous.' It can be flattering, but also a little overwhelming, and sometimes, honestly, a bit creepy. I’ve definitely learned a few things about navigating these digital interactions. First off, don't feel pressured to respond to every single TikTok message request. Your inbox is yours, and you get to decide who gets your time and attention. I usually give a quick glance at their profile before deciding. If it’s a blank profile, just a few generic posts, or immediately feels off, I usually just leave it. It's a great way to filter out the noise. We all get those messages that just make you go 'huh?' but you don't owe anyone a reply. Another super important thing is to take advantage of TikTok’s privacy settings. You can control who can send you direct messages and message requests. Go to your Profile > Menu (three lines) > Settings and privacy > Privacy > Messages. Here, you can choose 'Everyone,' 'Friends,' or 'Followers you follow back.' If you’re feeling overwhelmed, changing it to 'Followers you follow back' can significantly reduce the number of random TikTok message requests you receive, making your inbox a much calmer place. It’s a game-changer if you’re just trying to share content without all the extra chat. Also, always trust your gut feeling. If a message or a profile makes you feel uncomfortable, don't hesitate to block or report. TikTok has tools for a reason! Safety first, always. While it’s nice to connect with new people, it's also important to protect your peace and privacy online. Not every 'can I ask you a question?' is coming from a good place, and it's okay to be discerning. So, if your TikTok message requests are anything like mine, know you're not alone in dealing with the 'hello gorgeous' brigade! What are your tricks for handling a busy TikTok DM inbox?
