Replying to @Dominica 🇩🇲 🇩🇲 you ca only dream to be my first child but I’ll rather not have a child than give birth to someone like you because unlike your parents and 💯 of the world’s population, we don’t wait until Christmas Day to spoil our children to prove that we love them and gifts does not equal love but I’ll let you go ahead and eat your words.

As a parent myself, I’ve often grappled with how best to express love to my children without relying solely on presents. It’s easy to fall into the trap of equating gifts with affection, especially when society heavily markets holidays like Christmas as the prime time to shower kids with toys and treats. However, from personal experience, love manifests in many ways beyond material things—quality time, emotional support, encouragement, and daily acts of kindness truly build stronger bonds. I recall a moment when I decided to upgrade my stepdaughter’s old phone unexpectedly, not because it was a holiday, but simply because she needed it for her studies and to stay connected. This gesture felt much more meaningful than any traditional gift exchange. It showed her that I’m attentive to her needs all year round, not just on special occasions. Conversely, I’ve witnessed families who save up just for Christmas, giving an abundance of gifts in one day but lacking consistent emotional presence. Children can often sense when love is conditional or transactional, which can impact their self-esteem. This is why I believe spoiling doesn’t have to mean showering gifts but showering attention and affection daily. Ultimately, the debate on how to best parent and show love will vary based on individual values and circumstances. What matters most is intentionality—being mindful to make children feel loved, respected, and valued every single day, not only on holidays or special moments. This approach nurtures healthier relationships and happier children in the long run.
