✨ Morning with God — Psalm 143:8

Today I was reminded of this scripture I highlighted two years ago, and it hit me even harder now:

“Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love,

for I have put my trust in you.

Show me the way I should go,

for to you I lift up my soul.”

— Psalm 143:8

There’s something about waking up early, opening your Bible, and letting God speak into the silence. Some days I wake up unsure — about life, direction, purpose, next steps… and then a verse like this whispers:

“Trust Me. I will guide you.”

This scripture feels like a prayer for anyone in a building season, a healing season, a becoming season.

A reminder that even when we don’t have the answers, God does.

Even when we can’t see the future, He sees it clearly.

Even when the path feels unsure — He will show the way.

Prayer for today:

Lord, let Your love greet me every morning.

Lead me, teach me, guide me.

I want to walk where You want me to go.

Not by my strength, but by Your Spirit. Amen. 🙏🏽

... Read moreIt’s incredible how timeless the Psalms are, isn't it? When I sit down with my Bible in the quiet morning hours, much like the image of a 'Bible page close up' shows, focusing on verses like Psalm 143:8, it feels like King David's ancient words are written just for my present moment. This particular psalm, Psalm 143, is often understood as a prayer from someone in deep distress, seeking God's intervention and guidance. Knowing that background makes verse 8, 'Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul,' even more profound. It's a raw, honest cry for direction when life feels overwhelming. For me, embracing this verse daily has transformed my mornings. I used to rush into my day, feeling scattered, but now I carve out time to purposefully 'let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love.' It's not always easy; some days I'm sleepy, or my mind is racing with to-do lists. But just like seeing Psalm 143:8 underlined on a 'Bible page', it reminds me to pause. I find that when I intentionally open my heart and mind to God's presence, His 'unfailing love' becomes palpable. It’s a quiet reassurance that no matter what anxieties the day might hold, I am held. Many of us search for purpose, for clarity on 'the way I should go,' and this is where Psalm 143:8 truly shines. It's a prayer of surrender and trust, acknowledging that God's perspective is always clearer than our own. I've personally found it helpful to reflect on what "lifting up my soul" truly means. It's not just a casual thought; it's an intentional offering of my entire being—my worries, my hopes, my decisions—to Him. When I do this, it’s like a spiritual compass recalibrating, pointing me towards His will. If you're looking to deepen your morning routine or find clarity in your own journey, I encourage you to spend time with Psalm 143:8. You might explore different translations like the ESV, KJV, or NIV to see how they uniquely phrase this powerful plea for 'trust and guidance.' For me, visualizing that 'Bible page close up' with the verse highlighted helps solidify its message. I remember a time I was really unsure about a career decision. Every morning, I would read Psalm 143:8, praying, 'Show me the way I should go.' It wasn't an immediate answer, but through consistent prayer and reflection, I felt a strong sense of peace about one direction over another. That peace, that quiet knowing, was God's way of showing me the path. Don't worry if it doesn't feel profound every single day. The consistent act of seeking, of opening your Bible and asking, 'Show me the way I should go,' builds a foundation of faith and trust that will carry you through every season. It's a practice, a daily conversation, that brings peace and direction when I need it most.
