Demasiado relajo, demasiada confianza.
Sí: falta orden, mucho orden.
During my experience at Miss Universe, the environment was marked by a strict sense of order and professionalism, especially among the stylists. They strictly adhered to rules: no requesting photos, no seeking special favors, and no forming close personal ties with contestants. This created a respectful and efficient atmosphere where everyone knew their role and boundaries. Interestingly, even basic activities, such as going to the bathroom, required permission from the nanny, who managed the contestants' schedule and wellbeing. The stylists themselves respected this hierarchy by asking the nanny's permission for any interaction or movement, enforcing a rigorous discipline in the backstage environment. However, nowadays, this strict order seems to have dissolved. There's a noticeable increase in casualness and familiarity which some describe as a "relajo" (loosening or disorder). Stylists and crew members may feel more entitled, often disregarding the formal protocols previously upheld. This loss of discipline could result in a less professional atmosphere, where boundaries between staff and contestants become blurred. Maintaining order in such high-profile events is essential not only for operational efficiency but also for the comfort and respect of all participants. Stylists play a crucial role in ensuring that contestants look their best under pressure without distractions or discomfort caused by backstage chaos. This reflection highlights how important structure and clear rules are in competitive environments like Miss Universe. It serves as a reminder that professional respect and well-defined boundaries contribute significantly to the smooth functioning of such global platforms. Reviving some of this order could benefit current pageants by fostering a more respectful and productive environment. In sum, the "orden" (order) once prevalent among Miss Universe stylists ensured professionalism and respect. Reconsidering these values may help remedy some of the current challenges posed by a more relaxed backstage culture.
