Oral hygiene routine as a holistic girly
My oral hygiene routine as a wellness girly!
1) I ALWAYS start out by tongue scraping! I do this 2-3x/day, always in the morning and at night to get the gunk and bacteria off my tongue from the night or the day of eating.
2) I oil pull with coconut oil as it helps with whitening your teeth, and it has anti fungal and antibacterial properties that the oil can help pull out of your oral cavity. ALWAYS spit it out, NEVER swallow it. There is microorganisms in there that you don’t wanna swallow! Spit out and rinse your mouth out with water and spit it out.
3) Brush with a natural tooth powder (better) or a flouride free toothpaste. Flouride is a NEUROTOXIN and the fact that it’s added to many dental products and in our water is beyond me. But anyways, I brush with either or depending on the day. The powder can be a little messier but it really makes my teeth feel clean!
4) Floss. It’s better to use bamboo floss but I only had plastic so I am using that. Make sure to get between your teeth and that any food is coming out.
5) I will usually brush my teeth and tongue with baking soda in the afternoon or after lunch to neutralize my oral cavity and also whiten my teeth. Bacteria thrive in an acidic environment and if you’re a coffee drinker like me, it can lead to disruption of your oral microbiome. Baking soda neutralizes it a bit and also can help with whitening teeth! I combine it with coconut oil and scrub my tongue and brush my teeth!
Maintaining optimal oral hygiene is a vital aspect of overall wellness. A holistic oral hygiene routine not only promotes dental health but also enhances your overall well-being. Incorporating practices like tongue scraping is crucial, as this method helps remove harmful bacteria and promotes fresher breath. Additionally, oil pulling with coconut oil can be an effective way to detoxify your mouth while providing antibacterial properties that contribute to healthier gums. Using fluoride-free toothpaste is increasingly popular among wellness enthusiasts, as many seek alternatives to conventional dental products due to concerns about fluoride exposure. Natural tooth powders are a great alternative, providing effective cleaning without chemicals. Furthermore, flossing is essential; using bamboo floss can be a more eco-friendly option and helps remove debris that can lead to plaque buildup. Baking soda is another fantastic addition to your routine, offering multiple benefits including teeth whitening and pH balance. Given its alkaline nature, baking soda neutralizes acidity in the mouth, which is instrumental for coffee drinkers whose habits may disrupt the oral microbiome. Combining baking soda with coconut oil can provide a thorough clean that invigorates your oral environment. For those passionate about oral health, these holistic practices not only support strong teeth but cultivate a mindful and intentional approach to personal care. As you adopt these techniques, remember they contribute to not just your dental hygiene but your overall health and wellness journey.
