Drawing with pencil is an incredibly versatile and satisfying art form that allows for fine detail and subtle shading techniques. In my recent works, I've focused on experimenting with different pencil grades to achieve a variety of textures and depths. From soft, smudgy shadows created with 6B pencils to crisp, sharp lines using HB and 2H pencils, each piece tells its own story through shading and line work. One thing I've learned is the importance of patience and layering in pencil art. Building up tones gradually helps avoid harsh contrasts and brings a more realistic feel to the drawings. Smudging with tissue or blending stumps can soften edges, but I also like to keep some areas sharply defined to create focus points. If you're a fellow artist keen on pencil art, I recommend exploring different types of paper too. Smooth Bristol board offers a great surface for detailed line work, while textured papers can add interesting effects to your shading. My pencil artwork journey also involves capturing inspiration from everyday objects and nature. Whether it’s a close-up of a flower’s petals or the folds of fabric on clothing, drawing by hand deepens my appreciation for form and structure.
