The first step is to allow yourself to have a bad day. I struggle with this a lot, because I’m a perfectionist, and it’s hard for me to accept that I’m having an off day. By normalising it, you give it less power, which means you can also process your feelings, and move on.
Ask yourself what do you need today? Then DO that.
Prioritise self-care and your needs. Think about what helps you feel better, and do that first. I always need extra time for self-care on bad days, and prefer to spend that time alone, so I do things that bring me inner peace, like going for long walks to the beach.
I also like to listen to positive music, or podcasts that are uplifting, and do self-care activities that help me disconnect and rest, such as reading.

Navigating bad days is an essential skill that many struggle with, whether it be due to grief, stress, or just the ups and downs of life. One crucial aspect is recognizing that it’s okay to have a bad day; accepting your feelings rather than fighting them can lead to a healthier mindset. Mindfulness is a powerful tool here. Engaging in mindfulness practices such as meditation or breathing exercises can help you become more aware of your emotions and allow you to manage them effectively. In addition, listening to uplifting music or podcasts can significantly enhance your mood and provide a much-needed boost on tough days. Consider creating a self-care checklist that includes activities that resonate with you, like going for a peaceful walk, reading a favorite book, or even taking up a creative hobby. It's all about what works for you personally. Remember, reaching out to friends and family for support can also be invaluable; sharing your feelings can lighten the emotional load. Ultimately, what you need is unique to you, so take the time to explore different coping strategies and find what helps you build resilience against life's challenges.
