Process your post-election emotions 🫶🏽
The election results have brought up difficult emotions, especially for marginalized communities. It’s important to give yourself space to grieve, while have self-care strategies to keep you from getting stuck in a funk. Here’s what I’m doing for my mental health:
✨ take time to disconnect: I scrolled way too much on my phone the day of and the day before the election. Now I’m taking breaks from social media. I went grocery shopping today, called a friend, and went for a walk.
✨lean on loved ones: I’ve had multiple people check on me and vice versa. Find a community of people who are dealing with the same emotions. Lean into a safe space.
✨ Get active: stay distracted, as well as release emotions through running, Pilates, weight lifting, yoga etc. ALSO get active in your community to stand up for your rights and use your voice. Don’t give up.

Consider running, yoga, or even community volunteer work to stay engaged and make a difference. Combining personal fitness with social activism can create a sense of purpose and connection. 4. **Community Involvement**: Engaging with community leaders or organizations addressing issues that matter to you can also be cathartic. Not only does it help in processing emotions, but it also empowers you to take action in areas impacting your life. By implementing these strategies, individuals can navigate their post-election feelings more effectively while promoting overall mental health.
