Day 3: Life Update Series

Day 3: Life Update

Oops, I realised I’ve been ranting quite a bit about my work in my last two posts. But it is what happening recently guys 🥲

oh and I also feel the office is getting a bit.. confusing. All of the people that reports to our managing director described him as “he doesn’t seem to know what he’s doing” and it just picture us the direction we are heading which is no where. Sales target was set up high but seems to have no plans on how to hit them. Now the company is suffering the consequences, all projects planned for second half of the year is cancelled and travel is freeze. All those overseas trip opportunity next year that manager brought up to me seems to have been cancelled as well - aka telling us that the company is doomed.

Not so much of a future to stay eh? Maybe it’s time for me to get ready to pack up and leave. The company that don’t give its employees confidence to stay doesn’t sound appetising at all. I think 4 years is enough and it’s time to move on.

Speaking of moving on, few weeks ago something hit me when I was on the way to the office. “Am I going to.. spend the rest of my life caged in 9-5 working hours, sitting at my desk and work like this?” I have to decline some family trips because I don’t have enough leave to join them. I’m missing so much time with my family and the people who I really want to spend time with.

It made me think twice about Is this what I really want to do - corporate life. I am doing alright here but I don’t feel like doing this forever or anytime longer.

So.. I’m also looking at another way out of this .

Any of you guys think of this time to time?

... Read moreLately, I've been reflecting more deeply on what it means to truly find fulfillment in a job. When management lacks clear direction and promised projects or travel opportunities get cancelled, it not only hurts the company's future but also drains the motivation of employees like me. I've realized it’s important to listen to those gut feelings telling me to explore other paths. What stands out most is the sacrifice of personal time—missing family gatherings and special moments due to rigid work schedules and limited leave. This weariness with the 9-5 grind is a common feeling many of us share but rarely talk openly about. It's a reminder that career choices impact more than just our income; they shape our overall happiness and connections. For anyone else feeling trapped or uncertain about their current job, it might help to start considering alternatives—even if just exploring hobbies, side projects, or networking beyond your current circle. Changes can be daunting, but staying in a role that offers no confidence for the future can hold you back. Remember, four years is a significant chapter, and it’s okay to turn the page when the story no longer feels right. Ultimately, these reflections aim to encourage more honest conversations about career dissatisfaction and the importance of making choices that align better with our personal values and aspirations. #Day3LifeUpdate #CareerReflection #WorkLifeBalance #ThinkingOfMovingOn #AdultingWorld
