Hey everyone! I'm so excited you're here to get to know me a little better. My name is Mindy Maes, and I'm absolutely thrilled to be joining the Lemon8 community. My main goal here is truly to spread love, uplift people, and share a genuine glimpse into my life – the beautiful moments, the tough lessons, and everything that makes me, me. I believe in showing up authentically, and I'm so glad you've stopped by my corner of this platform. First off, you might have seen a few snapshots of my wonderful family. Yes, I'm a proud #boymom! My son is my world, and being his mother fills my days with endless joy, laughter, and a healthy dose of chaos! You'll definitely catch some #couplegoals moments with my amazing partner; he's truly my best friend and my rock. We love exploring together, whether it's hiking through a forest in our comfy plaid shirts, just enjoying each other's company, or simply finding joy in the everyday. Those moments, like him pressing a gentle kiss to my forehead, are what truly define our bond. Life, as we all know, isn't always sunshine and rainbows. One of the most profound and defining parts of my journey is being a #grievingmom. My heart forever holds a special place for my sweet baby, Damien Walter Kelman, who was born on August 6, 2007, and tragically left us far too soon on November 30, 2007. Losing him was an unimaginable pain that reshaped my entire world. His memory continues to inspire me to live fully, love fiercely, and find strength in vulnerability. You might notice the planchette necklace I often wear; it's a small, personal reminder of connections that transcend physical boundaries. This painful experience has profoundly shaped who I am today, and I believe in sharing our stories of love and loss to foster understanding, empathy, and connection with others who might be walking a similar path. Beyond my family life and personal journey, I'm also deeply passionate about social justice and advocating for important causes. If you've seen my partner's shirt proudly displaying 'MISSING MURDERED INDIGENOUS PEOPLE' alongside the powerful red handprint, you'll know this cause is incredibly important to us. We firmly believe in standing up for what's right, raising awareness, and using our voices to amplify those who are often unheard. It's a small part of how we strive to make a positive difference in the world and contribute to meaningful change. And for my #420friends out there, yes, that's part of my authentic self too!
