Must try (hidden gem) porridge in Seoul 😋✨
This is such a hidden gem located in City Hall subway station. I have no idea what’s the name of their restaurant as it’s all written in Korean and the google translation don’t work on their logos 🙂↕️
However, I do recognise it by their shopfront and the adorable ajusshi! He’s super welcoming and friendly to foreigners. He explains the dishes and provide you an English menu to look at. Even tho his English is limited, The hospitality is 💯💯💯. Just look at the generous portion given! And the Yakult!!
I came back here at least twice on every Korea trip I had! I’ve tried almost half of their menu, and my favourite has gotta be their spicy bulgogi porridge.🌶️ (I requested the removal of octopus as I didn’t like seafood) How often do you get to try a spicy porridge?! 🤯
All I can say is, If you happen to stop by City Hall station. Don’t mind locating this porridge place within Sogong underground shopping mall!
📍Sogong underground shopping mall
Via City Hall station line 1
If you're exploring Seoul and craving a warm, comforting meal, this porridge restaurant inside the Sogong underground shopping mall is a perfect stop. Despite the signage in Korean, the welcoming ajusshi ensures you have an English menu and will patiently explain the dishes. One of the unique offerings here is their spicy bulgogi porridge, a rare spicy twist on traditional Korean porridge that's perfect if you prefer something with a kick but want to avoid seafood. The portions are generous, accompanied by refreshing Yakult and side dishes that complement the meal well. What makes this spot stand out is not only the food but the homely vibe and the ajusshi’s hospitality, which made me return multiple times on different Korea trips. It’s a fantastic place for those seeking authentic Korean porridge experiences beyond the popular tourist areas like Hongdae or Myeongdong. Plus, it’s easily accessible via City Hall station (Line 1). The menu includes various porridges such as abalone, mushroom and oyster congee, and vegetable options, reflecting a wide variety to suit different preferences. If you have dietary restrictions or dislike seafood, don’t hesitate to ask for customizations, just like I did. For anyone searching for 'porridge near me' or 'best porridge in Seoul,' this spot deserves a top place on your list.
