Thrift,Coffee&Bakes at Haji Lane
If you’re around Haji Lane, there’s a thrift store with a café inside serving pastries and coffee, and they rotate different bakes daily. They also have tarts besides cakes.
I tried the hojicha dark chocolate cake ($15) and honestly had low expectations since it’s inside a thrift store, but it turned out to be one of the best cakes I’ve had. The glazed nuts on top added a really nice texture and flavour.
The iced long black ($6) was also quite affordable compared to most cafés. Besides coffee, they also have matcha and hojicha lattes, though they were a little pricey at $12 so I didn’t try them.
From Fri–Sun, they require one pastry and one drink per table which feels pretty reasonable. Lots of cute thrift pieces to browse while enjoying coffee and cake, and the staff were really friendly too.
If you're exploring Haji Lane, Takara House offers a charming blend of vintage shopping and delightful café treats that make it stand out. Beyond the highlighted hojicha dark chocolate cake, the daily rotating selection of pastries and tarts means there’s often something new to try on each visit. One aspect I appreciated is the reasonable pricing, especially for quality coffee like the iced long black at $6, which is a steal compared to many other cafés in the area. Although the matcha and hojicha lattes are pricier at $12, they offer a chance to indulge in rich, traditional Japanese flavors if budget allows. From Friday to Sunday, the policy requiring each table to order one pastry and one drink helps maintain a pleasant café atmosphere without overcrowding, contributing to a relaxing browsing experience among the thrift items. The fusion of shopping and café culture provides a unique ambiance that’s both trendy and welcoming. The store’s thrift collection features an array of cute, vintage pieces that make the visit worthwhile even if you just stop by for coffee. The friendly staff add to the warm vibe, making it feel like a neighborhood gem. For coffee lovers and thrift enthusiasts alike, Takara House is a must-visit on Haji Lane.
