Viral Butter Tteok at Funan?!?!
📍 Ruxu

This is a very famous bakery from Guangzhou that recently opened in Singapore at Funan Mall.
I tried their viral butter rice cake — super crispy on the outside and chewy inside. It can be a bit plain on its own though, so you might want to try it with condensed milk (saw a lot of people doing that online).
Also tried the torched cheese croissant, which was quite good — it almost felt like there was a layer of custard on top.
Another one was the pistachio cheese walnut brioche, which was decent but not my favourite as the walnut was a bit underwhelming.
Lastly, the milk custard pudding was nice — if you like pudding or Chinese-style desserts, you’d probably enjoy this.
Overall, it’s a trendy bakery with some unique items, worth checking out at least once.
If you’re a fan of unique bakery experiences, Ruxu at Funan Mall is definitely worth a trip. One tip I’d share after trying their butter tteok is that it can feel a bit plain on its own, so dipping it in condensed milk makes a huge difference by adding sweetness and creamy texture. This combo really brings out the best in the crispy-chewy contrast. For croissant lovers, the torched cheese croissant at Ruxu offers a delightful twist with its lightly caramelized custard-like topping. It creates a rich flavor that balances perfectly with the flaky pastry layers. If you like nuts, the pistachio cheese walnut brioche is interesting but might not satisfy those who prefer bold walnut flavors—it’s a more subtle nutty profile. The milk custard pudding was a nice finish—silky and smooth, great for fans of Chinese-style desserts. It’s not overly sweet, making it a comforting treat after indulging in the other pastries. Overall, aside from the butter tteok, I found Ruxu’s menu to have a nice mix of trendy and traditional items, making it a great stop when exploring bakeries in Funan. For anyone curious about Guangzhou bakery trends or searching for viral food in Singapore, this spot adds fresh variety and flavors to the cafe scene. Pro tip: Visit during off-peak hours to avoid queues and enjoy your treats in a more relaxed setting. The shop's vibe fits well with Funan’s modern shopping atmosphere, perfect for a casual snack or a light dessert break.
