Is my partner wrong for this?

A follower told me they’ve been with their partner for almost two years.

They talk about the future seriously — moving in together, trips, long-term plans.

The issue is money.

One of them wants to combine finances early to “build together” and be fully transparent. They think sharing accounts will make things easier and prove trust.

The other wants to keep everything separate for now. Not because they don’t care — but because they’ve seen how money ruins relationships when things go left.

Now it’s becoming a bigger argument.

One feels like separation = lack of commitment.

The other feels like separation = protection.

There’s no cheating, no secrets… just different views on money and timing.

Is combining finances early a sign of trust…

or something that should wait?

No one is wrong in this case they just have different views which is okay. The bigger problem is that they are already arguing about money. They should keep their finances separate until they get married. If bills and other expenses are being managed separately without conflict then there’s no need to combine until they’re married (if that’s the end goal).

If marriage isn’t the end goal then they need to find a middle ground where money doesn’t create trust issues in their relationship, especially if there’s no signs of it.
