Stay at home mom morning routine
I’m trying to get better at building consistency in my life, this was a simple plan I came up with for myself to keep myself accountable , and give myself a routine that also allows me to have a little bit of alone time in the morning! 🤍 #make a routine #startingoutfresh #Lemon8Diary #morningstart Valencia County
Hey fellow SAHMs! I know the juggle is real, and sometimes just getting through the day feels like a marathon. That's why establishing a solid morning routine has been an absolute game-changer for me. It’s not about rigid perfection, but about creating a rhythm that brings peace and productivity to our homes and lives. My morning ritual, which often starts with trying to wake up early before the little ones, has become my sacred 'me-time'. I’ve found that even just 30-60 minutes dedicated to myself makes a huge difference. First things first, I always drink a glass of water – it's a simple habit but it truly helps me feel more awake and hydrated. Then, for my mental and spiritual well-being, I dedicate some time to pray and read my Bible. This quiet reflection sets a positive tone for whatever the day throws my way. Next, I try to incorporate some movement. It doesn't have to be a full-blown gym session; even stretch and do some light exercise (30 mins) right at home can boost my energy. This could be a quick yoga flow, some bodyweight exercises, or just dancing around the living room! After that, it’s time to take a shower & get ready for the day. Getting dressed in real clothes, even if it's just comfy athleisure, makes me feel more put-together and ready to tackle tasks. One thing I've learned is that a smooth morning often starts the night before. I try to do a quick tidy-up so I'm not waking up to chaos. Sometimes, I’ll clean what didn't get cleaned last night – just a few minutes of putting things away makes a huge difference in my morning mindset. Then, of course, comes the prep for the kids. I often pick out little babes clothes the night before or right after I'm ready, to avoid any morning wardrobe meltdowns. Finally, it’s time to start breakfast! Having a plan for this, even if it's just cereal, reduces morning stress significantly. But let's be real, routines get busted! Kids wake up early, someone needs a diaper change mid-stretch, or you just don't get enough sleep. My biggest tip for consistency is flexibility. Don't beat yourself up if you miss a step or a whole morning. Just pick up where you left off the next day. I also try to involve my kids in age-appropriate ways as they get older, making it 'our' morning routine rather than just 'mine.' Perhaps they can help set the table for breakfast or choose their own clothes. Another game-changer is having a 'why.' Why do you want this routine? For me, it's about feeling less overwhelmed, more intentional, and ensuring I pour into myself before pouring into everyone else. It’s about building those small wins that accumulate into a more consistent and fulfilling day. Remember, you're doing an amazing job. Give yourself grace, and experiment to find what truly recharges you.
