Michelin Recommended Lao Street Food in Duluth GA

📍 Snack Boxe Bistro in Duluth, GA

Michelin-recommended Lao street food spot

I finally checked out this Lao street food spot that’s been on my list for years, here’s my review

⭐️ Khao Poon

Red curry coconut-based broth with round vermicelli noodles, topped with chicken and bamboo shoots. The broth is creamy, spicy, and slightly tangy, with fermented flavors balanced by lemongrass and kaffir lime leaves.

The vermicelli noodles are softer and more starchy, but they hold onto the broth really well , so every bite is packed with flavor.

⭐️ Fried Chicken Skin

Deep fried chicken skin with pepper seasoning. Super crispy, almost like chips.

The red curry coconut broth is rich and creamy with a perfect balance of spice and tanginess, thanks to the fermented paste and fresh aromatics like lemongrass and kaffir lime leaves. The round vermicelli noodles have a softer texture but hold the luscious broth exceptionally well, allowing every bite to burst with complex flavors. I was especially impressed by the use of bamboo shoots and tender chicken, adding contrasting textures that complement the soup beautifully. For a crunchy treat, the fried chicken skin seasoned with black pepper was surprisingly addictive, offering a snack-like experience with a satisfying crispness reminiscent of chips. This appetizer made for a great start and paired wonderfully with the bold flavors of the Khao Poon. The cozy, unpretentious atmosphere of Snack Boxe Bistro reinforces its street food roots while maintaining high quality, which certainly justifies its Michelin recommendation. If you enjoy authentic Southeast Asian flavors or are looking to explore Lao cuisine, this spot is a must-visit in Duluth. The affordable prices and generous portions make it suitable for casual dining or a flavorful quick bite. I’m looking forward to trying other menu items like the fried squid on a stick or the Khao Piek Sen, known for its similarly delicious and aromatic broths. Overall, this dining experience is a refreshing addition to the Atlanta food scene, offering genuine and satisfying Lao dishes rarely found elsewhere. Whether you’re a foodie or simply craving something different, Snack Boxe Bistro’s authentic street food will not disappoint.
