同じ「電車」でも、台湾はMRT（地下鉄）・台鉄（在来線）・高鉄（新幹線）・路面電車でルールの体感がけっこう違いました。私は最初、MRTと台鉄をごっちゃにしていて「飲み物ってどこまでOKなんだっけ…？」と駅で手に持っていたスタバのカップを慌ててバッグにしまったことがあります。迷ったらまずは“改札を通る前に飲み切る／しまう”が安心です。 ■MRTの「飲食NG」は想像以上に厳しめ 台北MRTは改札内が飲食禁止で、ペットボトルの水、ガム、飴も対象。ホームで一口…が一番危ないので、黄色いライン（改札付近の境目）を越える前にカバンへ入れるクセをつけると失敗しにくいです。駅構内はきれいで快適ですが、そのぶんルールも徹底されている印象でした。 ■台鉄・新幹線（高鉄）は「飲食OK」でも周りに配慮 台鉄の特急や高鉄は飲食OK。だからこそ、においの強いものは避けたり、ゴミをきちんと持ち帰ったりすると気まずさがありません。車内販売や駅弁っぽいものも楽しめるので、移動時間が長い日は“OKな路線で食べる”と気持ちがラクです。 ■路面電車（例：高雄LRT）は乗り方を先に確認すると安心 台湾の路面電車は景色が良くて、芝生の上を走る区間もあって観光気分が上がります。路線によっては「先に改札（タッチ）してから乗る／降りるときにタッチ」など動線が違うことがあるので、停留所の表示（英語併記が多い）を一度見てから動くのがおすすめ。混雑時は入口付近で立ち止まらず、奥へ詰めるとスムーズでした。 ■電光掲示板・ホーム表示は“Northbound/南港行き”なども手がかり 大きい駅（台北車站など）は路線もホームも多め。電光掲示板に「Northbound」表記や行き先（例：南港）・発車時刻・プラットフォーム番号・自由席車両が出るので、まずは行き先とホーム番号だけ拾うと迷いにくいです。 ■小ワザ：トイレは「MRT駅＝安心スポット」で覚える 街歩き中にトイレを探すなら、MRTの駅に入れる場所をいくつか把握しておくと本当に助かります。台鉄の古い駅や停留所周辺だと見当たらないこともあるので、“乗り換え駅・大きめの駅で先に行っておく”が安全策でした。 このあたりを押さえておくと、「台湾の電車は快適！」をちゃんと実感できるはず。飲食ルールだけは特に路線差があるので、MRTに入る前に一度チェックしてから移動すると安心です。
