🇨🇳 Yunnan Trip Series Part 2 | 6D5N Dali + Lijiang

After Dali, we headed north to Lijiang – higher altitude, slower pace, and a whole different vibe.

🏨 Stay: 丽江古城 此间Alley

⭐️ Personal rating: 5/5 – warm, thoughtful, and perfectly located.

The 老板娘 is incredibly hospitable. She recommended so many great spots. When I came down from Jade Snow Mountain feeling a bit缺氧 (lack of oxygen), she 主动 gave us oxygen bottles. Before we left, she even gifted us 鲜花饼.

The hotel is tucked in a quiet corner of the ancient town, super convenient but peaceful.

🌙 Day 3: Arrival + Late-night 烧烤

Arrived in Lijiang at night — dropped bags and immediately went for 烧烤 but don't recommend the place so I'll not be sharing in this post.

☕️ Day 4: Cafe Hopping Day

This was my favorite lazy day.

🍜 渣渣米线 — SUPER无敌推荐. Must come. No debate. One of the best views with good noodles in Lijiang.

🍽️ Dinner: 阿婆情腊排骨

⭐️ Personal rating: 2/5 – honestly, tastes plain. Wouldn't really recommend.

The texture was fine, but it lacked flavor. If you love super mild preserved pork rib soup, maybe? Otherwise, skip and try something else in the old town.

🌅 Day 5: Pig Cafe + Rooftop Sunset + Iron Pot Chicken

🐷 猪圈咖啡 — yes, it’s a pig-themed cafe. Cute, chill, good coffee.

🌇 MI觅吧 (rooftop cafe) — 超级无敌推荐. The sunset here is BEAUTIFUL. Seriously don’t miss it.

🍲 Dinner: 葵香苑土灶跑山鸡 (铁锅炖)

⭐️ Personal rating: 5/5 – 炒鸡好吃, 热腾腾, perfect for cool Lijiang nights.

The chicken is tender, the broth is rich, and the whole clay pot experience feels so cozy.

🏔️ Day 6: Jade Snow Mountain (玉龙雪山)

This is not a casual hike — be prepared.

💡 Must bring at least 2 oxygen bottles per person — 真的喘. Altitude is no joke.

- Dress in layers – it's freezing up top.

- Buy or rent oxygen before you go (cheaper outside the park).

- Don't rush. Listen to your body.

💡 Lijiang Tips

渣渣米线 will have a queue, but it moves fast. Don't skip it.

Don’t skip the rooftop cafes — sunset hours are magic.

Trust your hotel 老板娘 – their local tips are gold.

That’s it for Part 2!

➡️ Honestly, Lijiang surprised me — more cozy, more local, but worth every difficult breath!

... Read moreTraveling through Yunnan's Dali and Lijiang is an unforgettable experience, especially if you enjoy exploring places that combine cultural charm with stunning natural beauty. One critical tip when visiting Lijiang is to pace yourself because of its higher altitude. Many travelers often underestimate the effects of altitude sickness encountered near Jade Snow Mountain. Bringing oxygen bottles is essential, as feeling breathless is common for those not acclimated. During my visit, I found that layering your clothes is key; weather at the mountain's peak can be sharply cold, even in warmer seasons. Besides the famous Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, exploring local cafés like the pig-themed 猪圈咖啡 and the rooftop MI觅吧 offers a cozy, unique ambiance to unwind after a day of hiking or sightseeing. The sunsets viewed from these rooftops are simply magical and highly recommended. Food in Lijiang is diverse but varies significantly in flavor. For example, 渣渣米线 is a must-visit spot famed not only for good noodles but also for its beautiful view, perfect for combining a meal with sightseeing. In contrast, 阿婆情腊排骨 might be less appealing to those who prefer bold flavors due to its mild taste. Staying in lodgings like 丽江古城 此间Alley provides both convenience and a warm local atmosphere. The hospitality there stands out; the 老板娘 went out of her way to provide oxygen bottles and gave fresh flower cakes as a farewell gift, exemplifying the genuine kindness in local service. Finally, patience is essential when visiting popular spots like 渣渣米线 where queues are expected but move quickly. Trusting local advice, such as neighborhood gems recommended by your hosts, can lead to authentic, enriching experiences that typical guides might overlook. This blend of culture, cuisine, and nature truly captures the spirit of Yunnan's charm.
