my fav beef stroganoff recipe ✨
Ingredients:
500g (1.1 lb) of beef tenderloin or sirloin, sliced into strips
1 can of table cream (we always use the @nestle table cream) or you can use heavy cream to taste
1 medium onion, chopped
2 garlic gloves, minced
Olive oil to taste
100g sliced canned mushrooms, but sometimes I use fresh too like I did when filming
2 tbsp mustard
50ml (3 tbsp) dry red wine or 30ml of cognac if you’re comfortable with flambéing
30ml (2 tbsp) Worcestershire sauce
3 tbsp ketchup
Paprika, salt, and black pepper to taste
Instructions:
1. Season the beef with paprika, salt, and black pepper.
2. Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a large skillet and sear the beef over high heat until browned. Set aside.
3. In the same skillet, add a bit more olive oil and sauté the onion until translucent. Then add garlic and cook until fragrant.
4. Return the beef to the pan and mix well.
5. Add the red wine or cognac and let it reduce slightly.
6. Stir in the ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and mushrooms.
7. Lower the heat and mix in the cream, stirring gently until warmed through (don’t let it boil).
8. Adjust seasoning if needed.
Serve with white rice and crispy potato sticks! I couldn’t find any + add some parsley on top if you’d like.

Beef Stroganoff is a classic comfort food that combines tender beef strips with a creamy, flavorful sauce. One of the keys to making this dish truly special is using high-quality beef like tenderloin or sirloin, as the recipe suggests. I've tried this dish using both canned and fresh mushrooms, and fresh mushrooms really elevate the flavor, giving a deeper, earthier taste. When cooking, searing the beef quickly on high heat is crucial to seal in the juices and maintain tenderness. Using table cream or heavy cream adds the perfect richness to the sauce without overpowering the other ingredients. If you want to enhance the aroma and depth even more, flambéing with cognac can be an exciting step, but if you're not comfortable, dry red wine works wonderfully as well. The combination of mustard, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, and paprika creates a balanced blend of tangy, smoky, and savory notes that complement the creamy sauce beautifully. For sides, pairing beef stroganoff with white rice helps soak up the delicious sauce, and crispy potato sticks add a delightful texture contrast. If you want to add freshness and a splash of color, sprinkling chopped parsley on top is a simple finishing touch. This dish also fits perfectly into weekend dinner menus or when you want to impress guests with a flavorful homemade meal. If you are exploring Brazilian food-inspired recipes, this version of beef stroganoff reflects that comfort and homestyle appeal found in Brazilian households, making it approachable and satisfying for families. Overall, this recipe offers a great balance of ease, taste, and presentation, ideal for anyone craving a hearty and comforting meal.
