Starting A New Job as a Sensitive Girl 🎀

I was recently given the opportunity to take a new position at my current employer, and I am super excited to get started. Although I’m excited, I’m a little nervous because it is a change and my current job has been quite a trip! Here are a few ways that I am prepping for my new job:

🌷Cleaning out my Closet - I have been donating some of the clothes that I have now, finding new pieces that better reflects the culture of my new position. This is definitely more fun than it is productive, but it helps with the fear of starting something new by making it kind of fun.

🌷Reflecting on my Past Performance - I am leaving a very toxic and poorly managed position, but I am a firm believer that I’m not perfect and can reflect on where I could have done better.

🌷 Re-organizing my workspace - I love setting the tone with a fresh and organized space so that I can feel and be productive.

🌷 Creating a Plan - I want to take a proactive approach to developing myself in my new position so once I get a better grasp of what I will be doing, I’m gonna set a 30, 60, and 90 day plan with clearly defined goals. Before I start, I will start building out a template for this or researching different resources that I can find to help.

- xoxo, Drew 💌

... Read moreStarting a new job can be both exhilarating and daunting, especially for sensitive individuals. Embracing your emotions during this transition is crucial. Preparing mentally can make a significant difference in how you approach your new role. Consider journaling your feelings or sharing your thoughts with friends or family who understand your perspective. Networking is also essential. Connect with future colleagues through social media before your start date or join professional groups related to your field. This can help you feel less alone and more connected to the workplace culture. Additionally, adopting a healthy lifestyle can enhance your confidence. Regular exercise, mindfulness, and self-care routines can greatly improve your emotional resilience as you adjust to a new environment. Lastly, don’t hesitate to ask for help. Whether it's seeking advice from mentors, utilizing employee resources, or simply reaching out to coworkers for guidance, building a supportive network can ease the anxiety of this new chapter. Remember, change can lead to growth, and every new job brings a chance to learn, adapt, and shine.
