June 9 run
Channeling ancestral strength, I push on.
Another one in the books.
Could I have pushed harder? Yes.
Should I have pushed harder? Probably not.
It's so important to know your body.
I'm already lightheaded from only consuming caffeine and being oddly hungry for this early in the day. Also running on 4 suboptimal hours of sleep.
I am choosing not to push too hard. I aim to run around this pace until I can do so without any stops. Then I'll run in faster bursts with stops.
Currently my bursts are at 5.5 mph, end goal is 6mph. A lot for my petite length legs!
Running is not just about speed; it's about understanding your body and its limits. While I aim to enhance my pace gradually, I've learned the value of listening to my body's signals. Consuming caffeine without proper nutrition can lead to lightheadedness, making it crucial to fuel your body adequately before workouts. For beginners, the goal isn't always to push harder each time; rather, it's about building endurance and preventing injury. As I focus on hitting 6 mph in my bursts, it's essential to incorporate rest and recovery into my routine. In addition to pacing, monitoring elements like hydration and sleep quality plays a vital role in performance. Interestingly, my average pace of 13:25 per mile serves as a reminder that every runner starts somewhere, and improvement takes time and persistence. The beauty of running lies in its accessibility; whether you're tackling a 5K or a marathon, every step is a step towards improvement. Remember, it's about enjoying the process and celebrating small victories on your journey.
