✨How I use glycolic acid. What do you use it for?

These are just things I do. Please remember we all have different skin types so don’t come for me. Mine skin is sensitive so I start off slowly and if it works I continue. Also never apply GA to broken skin, irritated skin, burning skin, & dilute it if you’re worried about irritation.

💓: Armpits. After my shower and before bed I put some on a cotton pad and swipe under my arms. Only a little and I find that I have no smell (I know you were curious). In the morning I use some again and also add deodorant but not a lot. This also helps discoloration over time. Make sure to use SPF if you’re outside with your arms up in the air. 😂

💓: Scalp. This can lead to dry scalp so start slow & see if it works for you before going balls to the wall. On wash day I rub some into my scalp along with oil. It breaks down dead skin and product build up. It also helps with oily hair and less oil means more volume. It can clear clogged hair follicles which helps cell turnover it can indirectly help with hair growth.

💓: Hands On My Knees Angelina Jolie: I use GA on my cuticles and add hand cream. Knees & Elbows will be smooth and dewy if you use a small amount and add in a good moisturizer!

💓: Legs: I swipe glycolic acid on my legs whenever they’re acting up—itchy, bumpy, freshly shaved, about to be shaved, or looking like a strawberry patch. It clears out clogged follicles, smooths irritation, and helps even out discoloration. Basically, it’s my leg’s emotional support acid. Make sure to follow up with a good moisturizer. I usually use the GA, wet my legs slightly and pat on moisturizer. MAKE SURE TO USE SPF.

💓: Bikini Line: I pat (not swipe) GA on my bikini line when it’s feeling bumpy, irritated, or looking a little shadowy (I usually charge $ for this info). It helps prevent ingrowns, fades discoloration, and smooths out any post-shave irritation. Just don’t use it right after shaving..unless you enjoy the sensation of regret. I do sometimes.

💓: Lips: I always do this before bed but not every night. I use a tiny amount of glycolic acid and gently pat it into my lips, just enough to smooth out flakes or rough skin. Then I apply water, layer on a very generous amount of hyaluronic acid, and seal it all in with La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5 (this is the best moisturizer for so many things, it’s amazing). I don’t do this every day, but when my lips are dry or looking rough, it’s a must. Just make sure there aren’t any open cuts or major irritation before trying it. Your lips will look so soft & it definitely improves the plumpness!

... Read moreGlycolic acid (GA) is a popular alpha-hydroxy acid known for its exfoliating properties. It helps to slough off dead skin cells, promotes cell turnover, and can significantly improve the texture of your skin. Given its versatility, many are exploring how to use glycolic acid for different areas of the body. For the armpits, using GA can help manage odor and fade discoloration over time. Apply with caution to avoid irritation, especially if the skin is sensitive or broken. Similarly, scalp applications can alleviate dryness and combat buildup, promoting healthier hair growth. While GA enhances volume and manages oiliness, users should start slow to minimize irritation. On the skin's surfaces like elbows, knees, and legs, glycolic acid offers soothing benefits, smoothing rough patches and even helping to treat ingrown hairs and post-shave bumps. However, always follow up with a good moisturizer and SPF to protect the treated areas. For lips, a small amount of GA can work wonders in smoothing flakes and enhancing hydration. Layering with a suitable moisturizer ensures they stay soft and plump. Always keep in mind that sensitivity varies between skin types, and it’s crucial to conduct patch tests. Whether you’re looking to tackle dryness, texture, or even assist with discoloration, glycolic acid can be a valuable addition to your skincare arsenal. Remember to consult a dermatologist if you are unsure about its use on specific areas.
