Built by Love, Raised by a Single Mom

Being a single mom means I’ve carried it all — the worry, the strength, the prayers whispered late at night — and somehow we’re here.

Yesterday I watched my oldest daughter’s 8th grade night for basketball and seeing her get ready for high school, and I don’t see a little girl anymore. I see resilience. I see grace. I see the love that grew in the middle of hard seasons.

We grew up together. Every tear, every sacrifice, every late night… it built this moment. She doesn’t just walk into high school with a backpack — she walks in knowing she is deeply loved, fiercely supported, and capable of anything.

I’m so proud of the young woman she’s becoming. And I’m proud of us.

Single motherhood isn’t just survival — it’s raising strong daughters who know their worth because they watched their mother live it.

Watching my daughter move from childhood into her teenage years is a reflection of countless late nights, earnest prayers, and unyielding strength. Like many single mothers, I’ve learned that this path isn’t about simply managing day-to-day tasks; it’s about building a foundation of love and resilience that shapes our children’s futures. One thing I’ve noticed is how important it is for daughters to see their mothers not just as caregivers but as role models of dignity, courage, and self-worth. When children witness their mother's perseverance and self-love, they internalize these qualities and carry them forward into their own lives. This is why celebrating milestones such as an 8th-grade basketball night feels so profound—it marks not just an academic or athletic achievement but the blossoming of a strong, capable individual. The words “deeply loved, fiercely supported, and capable of anything” are not just aspirations but daily affirmations I use to encourage my daughter. Single motherhood demands a blend of toughness and tenderness; it means facing each obstacle with determination while nurturing hope and confidence in your children. Through every sacrifice and every joyful moment, my daughter and I have truly grown up together. To other single moms out there, remember that your love and resilience are more than enough. Your children learn from your example, and in doing so, you are raising not just survivors but empowered young women ready to take on the world.
