Digital painting in Procreate
I did this piece a few weeks ago and it is by far my favorite out of all of my pieces 🥰 #fantasyart #digitalart #procreateartwork #nativeartist
It's always such a joy to finish a piece you truly love, and this fantasy artwork I recently completed in Procreate has definitely stolen my heart! I wanted to share a bit more about my journey and what makes Procreate on the iPad such an incredible platform for digital painting, especially when it comes to bringing fantastical visions to life. For me, Procreate isn't just a digital painting app; it's a creative playground. When I set out to create this piece—you know, the one with the ethereal woman, the pearl-studded veil, the fiery orb, and those majestic dragons—I knew Procreate was the perfect tool. Its intuitive iPad painting interface really lets my creativity flow without getting bogged down by complicated menus. The Apple Pencil feels so natural, almost like a traditional brush, which is essential when you're trying to capture intricate details like the delicate folds of an elaborate gown or the scales of a dragon. One of the things I adore most about Procreate for fantasy art is the sheer variety of brushes available, plus the ability to create your own! For this artwork, I experimented a lot to get those vibrant colors just right, especially for the fiery orb. Layers, blending modes, and adjustment tools are game-changers. They allowed me to build up the depth and atmosphere, making the dragons feel truly alive and the woman's presence almost otherworldly. It's amazing how you can easily try out different color palettes or lighting effects without fear of 'ruining' the piece, unlike traditional media. If you're new to Procreate digital painting, my biggest tip would be to just dive in and experiment! Don't be afraid to play around with different brushes and settings. I usually start with a rough sketch, focusing on the composition – figuring out where my main elements, like the woman and the dragons, will sit. Then, I build up the colors layer by layer, starting with broad strokes and gradually adding details. For elements like the pearl-studded veil, I found that using a combination of soft and hard brushes, along with subtle highlights, really made them pop. The ability to zoom in and work on tiny details, then zoom out to see the overall impact, is invaluable. The whole process of creating digital artwork on my iPad with Procreate is incredibly rewarding. There’s something magical about seeing a blank canvas transform into a vivid fantasy world, all from the comfort of my couch! Whether you're aiming to create intricate fantasy scenes or just doodle, the Procreate app offers an amazing experience. It truly empowers artists to push their boundaries and bring their wildest imaginations to life. I hope this gives you a little peek into my artistic process and encourages you to explore the wonders of Procreate yourself!
