how my piercer almost made me lose my ear

hi all for day 7 of #lemon8diarychallenge i’m going to do a #storytime for it!!

so about a month ago, I got my 3rd cartilage piercing. prior to this, I’ve had nothing wrong with any of my piercings. in total I have 11 piercings including my naval, a nose ring, and 9 ear piercings.

I got my 3rd cartilage piercings and immediately felt something wrong with it. My ear felt like it was on fire and I figured maybe it was just the healing process (all piercings can heal differently). I decided to ignore it and went to bed that night. For about a week, I had the slight pain and burning sensation but one day, I had accidentally slept on it and the next morning i woke up and i was in sooo much pain. my ear was throbbing and had swelled up to 2x the size it normally would. my ear was hard and lumpy and when i touched it, i could no longer feel anything on my ear.

again, i chalked this up to a healing process. i went to work and was getting massive migraines and my head felt like it would explode. i let it be and kept cleaning it and that night i wrapped a cold pack on it and slept it off hoping it would be healed the next day. the next morning, i couldn’t even move my body anymore. i decided that i couldn’t handle this pain anymore and i left to go have a piercer look at it.

the day i showed a NEW piercer. they looked shocked. they were surprised i was able to even move and they saw (pic 2) that i was starting to battle an infection. the piercer said i came just at the right time. she changed out my bar and told me my piercer had given me the wrong bar and that contributed to my piercing swelling up that much and slowly getting infected.

After my new bar was placed in, almost immediately, i noticed i was feeling soooo much better. I felt my headaches go away and my ear no longer was lumpy and hard. I got lucky and it healed from there on but it all happened because my piercer decided to use a short bar.

Long story short, use trusted piercers for your piercings or you could end up like me :/

... Read moreGetting a cartilage piercing can be exciting, but it also comes with risks. Infections, allergic reactions, and improper aftercare can lead to complications. It's crucial to select a reputable piercer and ensure they use the right materials for your specific needs. Symptoms of a piercing infection can include excessive swelling, pain, and abnormal discharge. If you experience these signs, seek professional help promptly. Always follow aftercare instructions provided by your piercer, which often include cleaning the area with saline solutions, avoiding touching the piercing, and steering clear of swimming pools. Remember, your health should always come first, so don't hesitate to consult with experienced professionals for any concerns regarding your piercings.

I had similar issues and had to remove mine. I'm no longer able to wear earrings because someone double pierced a spot on my ear and it caused the tissue build up 😭 I want to be a girly girl so bad and can't wear half of the jewelry I want or even a cute pair of earrings! glad yours is figured out ❤️

I have gone through a similar issue each time I had mine done and it caused me to stop trying. I like your solution and may have to try it and get mine done again!
