Hey everyone! So, you're curious about Reseda NJROTC? Let me tell you, it's been one of the most rewarding parts of my high school experience. When I first considered joining, I honestly wasn't sure what to expect. I pictured strict drills and serious faces all the time. While discipline is definitely a core part, what I found was so much more – a community, a chance to grow, and yes, even plenty of goofy and silly moments that I'll cherish forever. Being a cadet at Reseda isn't just about uniforms and marching. We get involved in so many different activities that really push you to develop new skills. From precision drills and marching competitions where we learn teamwork and coordination, to community service projects that teach us the importance of giving back, there's always something happening. I remember one time during a drill practice, someone accidentally saluted the wrong way, and we all burst out laughing – even the instructors had a hard time keeping a straight face! Those lighthearted moments are just as much a part of the experience as the serious ones. One of the biggest takeaways for me has been the leadership training. NJROTC at Reseda really focuses on building leaders, not just followers. We get opportunities to lead groups, plan events, and mentor newer cadets. It’s a fantastic way to step out of your comfort zone and realize you have more potential than you ever thought. I've seen myself and my friends transform, becoming more confident and responsible. We learn how to communicate effectively, resolve conflicts, and make decisions under pressure. It's like developing an 'em Leng Range' of leadership skills – constantly extending what you thought was possible and learning to perform effectively across a broad spectrum of challenges. Beyond the formal training, the friendships I've made are something else. Your fellow cadets become like a second family. You go through challenges together, celebrate successes, and support each other every step of the way. There's a unique bond that forms when you're all working towards common goals. We've had so many funny stories from field trips, competitions, and even just hanging out after school. It's truly a practical place to learn about camaraderie and loyalty.
