Kitakata Walk ~ Sakura Festival and Kura Town Walk ~
Spring 2026, the scenery of JR's poster "Fukushima Fantasy"
I went on a one-night trip to Kitakata because I wanted to see it
Since the cherry blossom season changes every year, I heard that the timing of my visit reached its peak a week ago 💦 but I was still able to fully enjoy the north side of the 3km long cherry blossom row ✨✨
After a 10-minute walk west of Kitakata Station, you will arrive at the site of the Nichitsu Line (Weeping Cherry Blossom Trees), and from there, the walking trail of weeping cherry blossoms continues for about 3 kilometers to the north.
It is a railway 🚂 opened in 1938 (Showa 18), but it was abolished in 1984 (Showa 59), and it seems that he chose and planted weeping cherry blossoms with a long flowering period so that the site will be the common property of citizens
I heard that they are still planting weeping cherry trees to extend further north
On the last day of the night cherry blossom light up (only one place), we also visited the night cherry blossoms
In addition to cherry blossoms in Kitakata, we enjoyed a tour of the town and sake breweries.
There are two streets with many storehouses in the city, and rental bicycles are recommended along with cherry blossom tree-lined sightseeing 🚲
At the Kurazashiki Art Museum where you can enter the warehouse, you can see the works of famous artists who visited Kitakata at that time, and you can also visit the brick warehouse of Wakaki Shoten (soy sauce brewery) (free)
There are several sake breweries in Kitakata, and you can enjoy sake made with delicious water and rice from the Aizu region.
At "Yamatogawa Sake Brewery" in the center of the town, there was a large exhibition tour course in the warehouse, and you could see historical wooden barrels and sake bottles.
It is also recommended to be able to taste automatic sake
When I walked a little, there was "Kita no Hana Sake Brewery" and I also tasted delicious sake here 🍶
In the morning of the second day, after the early morning cherry blossom sightseeing by rental bicycle, we went to Kitakata Ramen's famous shop Sakauchi for "Morning 🍜."
Even though it was before 7 o'clock opening on weekdays, there was a line and I was able to get it in the second round
It was light and refreshing, like udon
My first trip to Kitakata was fulfilling and fun.
