typical day in the life of a sahm

Being a stay-at-home mom to a three-year-old and a six-month-old truly defines 'go, go, go' for our family! Every day is an adventure, often starting before the sun is fully up. My mornings kick off with those precious bottle snuggles, a quiet moment of connection before the whirlwind begins. It's my little ritual to fuel up myself with coffee (sometimes a much-needed Starbucks run!) before we tackle getting my energetic son ready. One of the biggest lessons I've learned is the art of multitasking and seizing small moments of joy. Take our park visits, for example. While I'm baby-wearing my daughter, I'm also chasing my son, marveling at his boundless energy. It's in these moments, like when he spots wildflowers and brings me a sweet *flower delivery*, that the exhaustion melts away, even if just for a second. It's truly unfiltered joy. Trying to manage both a mobile toddler and an infant means being prepared for anything. I always pack a bag with snacks, extra clothes, and toys for both, knowing that flexibility is key. Sometimes the park outing is short, sometimes it's longer than planned, but it's always an experience. Lunchtime at home is another dance. My son's favorite lunch is a peanut butter and honey sandwich, and while I admit the PB grosses me out, seeing his happy face makes it worth it. It’s a challenge to get both kids fed and settled – juggling a baby who needs a bottle with a toddler who wants to play. While my son is finishing up, my daughter gets her much-needed tummy time. It's often during these quieter moments that my son gets creative, like the time he decorated her with stickers he found from an Easter egg hunt. It's chaotic, yes, but also uniquely sweet and full of brother-sister bonding (even if it's just with stickers!). Evenings bring their own rhythm. After naptime, we often look for ways to burn off that last bit of toddler energy before dinner. Having Dad home from work is a game-changer. Our recent swim once dad got home was perfect. The pool might still be chilly here in South Texas, but watching them splash and play together is a wonderful way to wind down the day as a family. It’s not always easy, and some days feel like one continuous task, but finding routines that work for us is crucial. For other SAHMs out there, especially those juggling multiple young ones: embrace the chaos, find your small moments of peace (even if it's just that first sip of coffee!), and don't be afraid to ask for help. Every day is a learning curve, and it’s okay if not everything goes according to plan. The biggest takeaway from my SAHM journey with a toddler and a baby? It's messy, it's loud, but it's also filled with so much love and unforgettable little moments that make it all worthwhile.
