whats in my diaper bag: baby and toddler edition
my diaper bag looks a little different each day, but these are the staples:
we always have a receiving blanket just in case we need to do a diaper change in the trunk. a burp cloth for any messes, and the obvious diapers, wipes, diaper rash cream, and hand sanitizer.
my sons tablet stays in the diaper bag, but we really only let him use it if we are going on a long car ride (think 3+ hours).
i especially like having SPRAYABLE diaper rash cream in the diaper bag. my hands stay clean and it makes it so much faster and easier on the go!
i keep an extra pair of underwear and pants for my toddler who is still mastering potty training. and i always have a onesie for my baby.
i try to keep snacks for each kid just in case we are out longer than expected. depending on the time of day i may bring a bottle as well.
things we bring that weren’t pictured: toddler’s water bottle and sunglasses.

When packing a diaper bag for toddlers and babies, organization is key. Parents should prioritize essential items that cater to both comfort and readiness. Always include diapers, wipes, and a sprayable diaper rash cream to ensure hygiene and quick diaper changes. A receiving blanket can provide comfort during changes and doubles as a makeshift play mat. Snacks like fruits, puffs, or yogurt melts are perfect for keeping little ones engaged during outings. In addition to these essentials, make sure to have a portable water bottle for toddlers, which encourages hydration on hot days. It’s wise to add an extra set of clothing and a few favorite toys to keep your child entertained during unexpected delays. Consider including a lightweight portable tablet for longer trips, ensuring screen time is appropriately managed. Lastly, always carry hand sanitizer to maintain cleanliness on the go, especially after snacks or diaper changes. By organizing your diaper bag thoughtfully, you can handle any moment efficiently and make outings delightful for both you and your kids.
