Queen Strawberry Moth 🍓

Isn’t she just precious?? I still don’t know what to name her!!! I loved the line art for this one, but it did take me a second on deciding what to do for the color scheme. Here’s some fun questions:

1.) What’s your favorite Moth?

2.) What should my Moth’s name be?

3.) should I make a blueberry moth??

... Read moreHey everyone! So thrilled you liked my Queen Strawberry Moth! It's one of my favorite pieces from 2024 so far. I wanted to share a bit more about the process and answer some of the questions I posed, especially since many of you are curious about 'strawberry moth' designs or even a 'strawberry cake moth' concept. When I first thought about creating a 'strawberry moth,' my mind immediately went to vibrant reds, soft pinks, and that delightful, sweet aesthetic. I aimed for something truly unique, blending the delicate beauty of a moth with the juicy appeal of a strawberry. The 'Queen' aspect came from wanting her to feel majestic and whimsical, a true ruler of a berry patch! For the line art, I focused on elegant, flowing wings that mimic the shape of a strawberry, and added little details that hint at seeds and sweetness. It was a fun challenge to make something that could be a 'strawberry shortcake moth' without directly copying a character, but rather capturing that same charming, delectable vibe. Choosing the color palette, as I mentioned, took a bit of time. I experimented with different shades of pink and red, trying to find that perfect balance that felt both rich and airy. I decided on a soft, rosy pink for the main body, with brighter strawberry reds for accents and wing patterns, and just a hint of creamy white to bring in that 'cake' or 'cream' element. The goal was to make her look good enough to eat, but also undeniably a moth! Now, about names! You guys had some amazing suggestions. I'm still torn between a few, but I'm leaning towards something that reflects her sweet and regal nature. What do you think about names like 'Berrybelle,' 'Rosalind,' or even 'Fraise' (French for strawberry)? It's always the hardest part of creating characters for me! And yes, a blueberry moth is definitely on my radar now! Imagine the cool blues and purples, maybe with a touch of silver for dew drops. It would be a fantastic companion to my Queen Strawberry Moth, perhaps even a 'blueberry pie moth' to continue the dessert theme. It's so inspiring to see how a simple idea can spark so much creativity and engagement from all of you. Keep the ideas coming, and follow along for more of my artsy adventures!
