Dillon Beach, CA
Would you stay here? If the weather was better, I would’ve stayed all weekend at DBR, but it was insanely windy and that forced us to find a plan B. We still had a great weekend and loved exploring the area! Dillon Beach Resort #beachwithtoddler #california #beach #californialifestyle #californiatravel
My recent long weekend getaway to Dillon Beach, CA with my two toddlers was an adventure! We chose Dillon Beach Resort for our stay, and even though the weather decided to throw some seriously windy conditions our way, we made the absolute most of it. I wanted to share more about our experience, especially for other families thinking of visiting this charming coastal spot. First off, Dillon Beach Resort itself is incredibly family-friendly. Our room offered a lovely view of the ocean and coastal landscape, which was perfect for the toddlers to watch from the window in their pajamas, even on a blustery morning. The resort's proximity to the non-swimming beach was a huge plus. We spent hours walking along the sandy shores and exploring the rocky cliffs, looking for shells and interesting stones. It was great to just let the little ones run around and breathe in the fresh sea air without worrying too much about rough waves for swimming. Carrying one toddler and walking with another on the beach was easy enough here, and they just loved the freedom. When the wind picked up too much for extended beach time, we quickly pivoted to other activities. One of our favorite finds was the arcade at the resort – who knew a classic pinball game could bring so much joy to a toddler! It's always good to have an indoor backup plan, especially with unpredictable coastal weather. Beyond the immediate resort, we ventured out to explore some of the surrounding areas to check out. While we didn't get to everything, we found some cute local spots for snacks and warm drinks. Dillon Beach truly does offer a perfect spot for a slow and simple weekend. It's not about packed schedules or adrenaline-pumping activities, but rather about enjoying nature, spending quality time together, and creating those precious family memories. We found a beautiful scenic coastal view at sunset which was just breathtaking – a moment of calm amidst the toddler chaos! Even holding a sand dollar found on the beach felt like a little treasure. My top tips for visiting Dillon Beach with little ones? Be prepared for all types of weather – layers are your best friend! Also, think about activities beyond just the beach. Having a plan B, like an arcade or a cozy cafe, can save the day. The resort itself is a fantastic base, offering comfort and convenience. We left feeling refreshed and already planning our return, perhaps for a less windy experience next time!
