Why we homeschool…

The “why” behind our decision to homeschool. I made this decision long before we had kids, but these are the reasons why! We are just barely getting started on our homeschool journey but so far we’re all super happy with this choice. 🫶🏽📚 #homeschoolers #homeschoolbeginner #homeschooljourney #sahm #momlife

Understanding why families choose this path is crucial for prospective homeschoolers. The flexibility of homeschooling allows parents to cater to their children's unique learning styles, providing a personalized education that traditional schools may not offer. For instance, if a child excels in a particular subject or has specific interests, homeschooling enables parents to adjust the curriculum accordingly, fostering a love for learning. One significant advantage is the ability to work at their own pace. Unlike conventional schooling, where children must keep up with the class, homeschooling provides the opportunity for kids to delve deeper into subjects they enjoy or to slow down on areas that might be challenging. This adaptability can lead to a more enriching educational experience. Moreover, one of the most heartfelt reasons for choosing homeschooling is the invaluable time spent together as a family. Studies suggest that homeschooling can reclaim over 16,000 hours with children, allowing families to bond through shared learning experiences, adventures, and real-world applications. For example, instead of just learning about farms in a textbook, homeschoolers can visit a local farm and engage in hands-on learning. These real-world experiences can spark curiosity and enhance retention of what children learn. Another significant concern for many parents is school safety. With rising incidents related to school safety, families may feel more secure educating their children at home. Parents can create a controlled environment where they can impart not just academic knowledge but also ethical values and life skills. Finally, some parents opt to homeschool for selfish reasons—overwhelming love for their children's growth and curiosity. Watching children understand new concepts and thrive in a tailored learning environment is an experience like no other. Homeschooling offers a unique blend of education, adventure, family bonding, and safety, making it an increasingly appealing option for many families.

Well said ❤️ Even though I’m choosing to send my children to public school I do still believe homeschooling is a great option. And would choose homeschooling if I could. Especially in the elementary years.

That last slide 😢 My kiddo is still far too young g for school, but I’ve been back and forth on PS or HS. We love to travel so I’d love to have that flexibility!
