When I first started thinking about homeschool preschool, the idea of planning everything out felt incredibly daunting. How do you keep track of lessons, activities, and still have time for life? That's where my "Monday Mandala" approach to planning came in – it's less about a specific product and more about a flexible, structured mindset that truly transformed our learning days. My core philosophy, inspired by the idea of a 'mandala' as a framework, is to create a weekly and daily routine that's easy to follow but also adaptable. We use the "Playing Preschool by Busy Toddler" curriculum, which provides a fantastic foundation. My planning process starts a month or two in advance for the overall unit schedule. This lets me map out holidays, trips, and major themes. But the real detailed work – the nitty-gritty of daily activities – happens the weekend before a new unit begins. This way, everything feels fresh and relevant. I dive into the curriculum's "weekly overview" and "daily lessons." Each day has about four activities, aimed to take 45 minutes to an hour. But here’s the secret: it doesn't have to be done all at once! I break it down. Maybe we do an "Aa sound" activity or a quick "name sorting" game over breakfast. Then, after a baby nap, we might do the read-aloud and discuss the "questions of the week." Later, before dinner, we'll tackle an easy activity, like the "secret names" watercolor reveal, where my child paints over white crayon to find hidden words. If a particular activity from the curriculum doesn't quite fit our mood or developmental stage, I simply leave it blank. This customization is key to making it work for *us*. Logistics are a big part of the Monday Mandala method too. About a week before a new unit, I order all our library books for pickup. This ensures we have timely access to themed books. For those moments when the curriculum needs a little extra sparkle or we need a "filler activity," I turn to Pinterest or TikTok. I often search for "preschool animal crafts" or other relevant themes to add some creative fun. We also weave in workbook time, like "Singapore Math," during these flexible slots. For keeping everything organized, I rely on my trusty "GOLDEN COIL PLANNER." While it's not marketed specifically as a homeschool planner, its layout allows me to integrate our unit plans, daily activities, and even notes on "things to talk about" seamlessly. This structured yet flexible approach to planning has made our homeschool preschool journey enjoyable and genuinely stress-free, proving that truly, planning doesn't have to be complicated when you find a system that molds to your unique lifestyle.
