Fave Disney nap spots
Kiddos need a nap at Disneyland Park ? Here’s our favorite spots for a nap in the parks! #disneyland #disneywithtoddlers #disneytoddler #disneybaby #momlife
Navigating Disneyland with a toddler is an adventure, but one thing every parent knows is that a well-rested little one makes for a much happier (and magical!) day. Finding the perfect quiet spot for a nap amidst the excitement can feel like a quest in itself, but I've learned a few tricks and discovered some hidden gems over my trips. My goal is always to find a place where my toddler can truly unwind and recharge, allowing us all to enjoy the park to its fullest. First, let's talk strategy. While the allure of a designated 'Baby Care Center' might seem obvious, based on my experience, they can often be surprisingly noisy with other crying babies or bustling parents. While fantastic for diaper changes and feeding, they might not be the quiet oasis you envision for a peaceful nap. Instead, I look for areas that offer shade, a bit of distance from main thoroughfares, and sometimes even natural white noise. One of my absolute favorite nap spots, especially if you're venturing into Disney California Adventure, is the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail. It's wonderfully quiet, incredibly shady thanks to the towering trees, and the gentle sounds of flowing water provide a natural, soothing white noise. It feels like a little escape from the park's hustle, perfect for pushing a stroller or finding a secluded bench. Within Disneyland Park itself, I've found success in the calmer walkways and shaded areas near Star Wars Land (specifically, some of the paths leading towards Critter Country or even near the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad exit). These spots often have benches tucked away, offering a momentary reprieve. Similarly, certain quieter corners of Bayou Country and Frontierland can be surprisingly peaceful, especially if you time your nap during a parade or peak ride times when crowds are elsewhere. Look for benches under large trees or along less-trafficked paths. Another unexpected gem for a stroller nap can be the queue for "it's a small world." It's often shaded, moves slowly, and the ride itself is dark, cool, and features repetitive, calming music that can lull a little one to sleep. The Mark Twain Riverboat or the Sailing Ship Columbia also offer a gentle rocking motion and a relatively calm ride, providing a unique napping opportunity with a view. Don't underestimate the power of a good stroller with a reclining seat and a sunshade. I always bring a portable sound machine or use an app on my phone for consistent white noise, which helps block out ambient park sounds. Packing a light blanket or favorite lovey also makes any spot feel more familiar and comforting. Sometimes, a quiet snack break at a less-busy dining location can morph into a nap. While not always perfectly quiet, places like Plaza Point (if you're just outside or in a quieter corner) or even some of the outdoor seating areas of quick-service restaurants during off-peak hours can work if your toddler is a heavier sleeper. Just be mindful that areas like Ghirardelli (mostly DCA) can be bustling, so always assess the current crowd level. Ultimately, flexibility is key. Your toddler might surprise you by napping in the most unexpected places, or they might resist altogether. The important thing is to have a few strategies in your back pocket. A well-rested toddler means more smiles, more magic, and fewer meltdowns for everyone, making your Disneyland adventure truly unforgettable!
