💙 16 Years of Service. 16 Years of Community. 16 Years of Giving Back.

Today was our 16th Annual Day of Service, and what an incredible day it was! Everything provided to our community was completely FREE — because today was about serving our families, supporting our neighbors, and bringing our community together. 🤝🏾

Families received free food, diapers, wipes, household essentials, resources, and so much more. Our kids got to just be KIDS! ❤️ They jumped in the bounce houses, played basketball, got their faces painted, danced, had fun, and even got the chance to explore a fire truck! 🚒🎨🏀

But none of this would have been possible without the people behind it.

A HUGE thank you to our 90 amazing volunteers who gave their time and energy to serve our community. Thank you to every family who came out, our sponsors, donors, vendors, community partners, staff, and everyone who contributed to making today possible.

For 16 years, Day of Service has been about more than giving away items. It’s about community. It’s about family. It’s about showing up for one another. 💙

We are incredibly grateful for another successful year, and InshaAllah, we will continue serving our community for many more years to come.

Thank you, Twin Cities! Until next year! 🙌🏾

... Read moreHaving attended several Day of Service events over the years, I can personally attest to the incredible atmosphere they foster. The essence of these gatherings is not just the generous giveaways but the genuine sense of togetherness and upliftment. Watching kids laugh and play on bounce houses, face paint brightening their smiles, and families connecting over shared resources creates a uniquely heartwarming experience. One aspect that stood out to me this year was the dedication of over 90 volunteers who tirelessly contributed their time and energy. Their commitment is truly the backbone of the event’s success, embodying the spirit of giving that sustains the community. They not only assist with logistics but also engage warmly with attendees, making everyone feel welcomed and valued. Moreover, the inclusion of fun activities like exploring a fire truck and playing basketball makes the day enjoyable for children, providing them with joyful memories and a break from routine. Such initiatives highlight how the Day of Service supports whole families, attending to practical needs while fostering community joy and solidarity. Reflecting on the 16-year journey, it’s inspiring to see how the event has evolved from a simple giveaway to a robust celebration of unity and dignity. The event truly champions family, community, and the importance of showing up for each other. For anyone interested in volunteering or participating in future activities, this serves as a wonderful example of grassroots community support in Minneapolis and the broader Twin Cities area. These experiences underline the invaluable role of Day of Service events in nurturing strong, supportive communities where everyone can access essential needs with dignity and joy.
