Part 1: Story time

So Mike and I met the year of Covid 2020. The way we met is my best friend boyfriend was roommates with him at the time. I just so happen to be at my best friend‘s home hanging out and Mike saw me through her FaceTime. Now while he did try to shoot his shot the shot was missed. The shot was missed because I couldn’t see him nor could I converse with him. It was a he said she said shot that was trying to be thrown. at the time I was a straightforward person that wanted her future man to be very direct with her. Now I’m sure if he was telling the story he would tell it from his point of view and it wouldn’t have been what I’m getting ready to tell you. Our journey took off in June when I decided to meet him in person for the first time given I stayed in Georgia And he stayed in another state where he was stationed. When I pulled up to the home with my best friend, I was nerved wrecked. Little did I know this would be my best friend, the man of my dreams, and the love of my life that God bless me with. When we finally were able to meet in person, it was an instant connection. Fast forwarding, we were long distance for three years. We would take turns coming to see each other in the perspective states. This kind of got rough at the time because I was missing him and he was missing me and being with each other for a couple of days was just not enough. However, towards the end of 2023, he stated that I needed to come to the state that he was in to take our relationship to the next level. As nerve-racking, as that was eventually, I did take the leap of faith and came to the state that I am currently residing in with Him 👩🏽‍❤️‍💋‍👨🏿.

Here’s what I’ve learned:

Since I’ve been here since February 2024, I have learned to become a woman by using the tools that my mother gave me. I also learned to be selfless and not selfish because I now have to think of someone else. Never did I think that I would be in the position that I am in today with my now fiancé. God has truly taken his time in pruning, molding, shifting, and transitioning me as a follower of Christ and soon to be wife. At the time when I first moved down here, I could not see what God was really trying to do because I was so sad about leaving my hometown. Not remembering the scripture that tells us to cleave until our husband and our wife and to leave your parents home. This is important because I have been praying for marriage and did not understand why it couldn’t be the traditional way. This was especially hard because all I had ever known was my mom to take care of things, I am very thankful for that, but I needed to also grow up. The one thing that I truly admire about my fiancé, is that he has taught me how to communicate, effectively actively listen, and have patience. you’ll have to come back for part two of how the proposal was set up.
