Do you have kids papers everywhere?
What are your tips for keeping your kids’ papers organized??
It’s so hard to know what of your kids papers you want to keep and to have a good system for doing so. I started making these file boxes and they have been a GAME CHANGER! These boxes include files to use from the time your child is born to the time they are in college and you can add more if you need to! I love that everything is in one place and you can even gift the boxes when your kids are adults!
These also make super great baby shower gifts!! I have had so many moms love them and ask me to make them for their other kids!!

Dealing with a mountain of cluttered papers from your kids can feel like an endless battle, right? I totally get it! For years, I struggled with overflowing drawers and piles on every surface, wondering what to keep and what to toss. It felt impossible to create a filing system for kids' papers that actually stuck. But after a lot of trial and error, I've discovered some strategies that have truly transformed our home from cluttered to *organized*. First, let's talk about the initial purge. This is often the hardest part, but so rewarding! Gather all those loose papers – the artwork, the school notices, the half-finished assignments. Now, arm yourself with three bins: "Keep," "Shred," and "Recycle." My trick is to tackle it in small chunks, maybe 15 minutes a day, rather than trying to do it all at once. As you go through each item, ask yourself: Is this a milestone? Does it represent a significant achievement? Is it truly a cherished memory? If not, let it go. It’s amazing how much lighter you’ll feel once you clear out the unnecessary bulk. Once you’ve done the initial sort, it’s time to set up your dream file box system. This is where the magic happens! I’ve found that using hanging files inside a sturdy box is the most efficient way. You can customize the labels to fit your family's needs perfectly. I started with a section for 0-3 years for early milestones, then dedicated folders for each school grade from Preschool all the way up to College years. This makes it so easy to drop new papers into the correct year as they come in. Beyond just school years, think about creating specific categories for different types of *documents*. For instance, I have a dedicated 'Artwork' section. Instead of keeping every single drawing, I select a few favorites each year – maybe one or two truly special pieces. My kids even help me choose now! We also have clear sections for 'Health Records' like immunization schedules, doctor's notes, and insurance information, ensuring all vital family documents are easily accessible. Another must-have is a 'Keepsakes' folder for things like special letters, awards, or photos that aren't stored in traditional albums. The key to keeping this system organized long-term is consistency. I try to make it a habit to go through new papers weekly. When my child brings home a stack of papers from school, I immediately sort them. Important notices go on the fridge or in a "to-do" pile, and anything to be saved goes straight into its designated hanging file in their special *file box*. This prevents those dreaded piles from forming again. It’s also a wonderful way to involve your kids; they can help decide what artwork to save or where to file their latest certificate. This simple approach to managing cluttered papers has been a lifesaver for me. It’s not just about tidiness; it’s about preserving precious memories without the stress of overwhelming mess. Trust me, dedicating a little time to set up this personalized filing system for kids' papers will pay off immensely, giving you peace of mind and an organized home.

My mom does this too but she does this to keep our finances in check. It’s super helpful and she knows where our files are
