Moody Vibes
I truly believe I act out when i’m in a mood but I try not to let it pour out in my attitude at work. As a woman it’s so hard to control our emotions or Mood when we are not in the headspace but this is my inner thoughts 💭 to the moody bytch that occasionally comes out from time to time 😅

It’s so true, isn't it? There are days when I literally feel like I’m having a pre-work pep talk with myself, almost like telling my other personality how to act when I get ready to walk into work. That feeling of battling your own 'moody vibes' before even stepping foot in the office is so real. We all have those moments where our emotions feel like they're running the show, and trying to keep a professional front while feeling overwhelmed or frustrated can be incredibly draining. The original post perfectly captures that inner monologue, that raw honesty about the 'moody bytch' that occasionally makes an appearance! But what do we do when she shows up? Emotional regulation in the workplace isn't about becoming a robot or suppressing every feeling. It’s about understanding, acknowledging, and managing our emotional responses so they don't negatively impact our work, our colleagues, or our own well-being. It’s a skill, and like any skill, it takes practice! Here are a few personal strategies I’ve found helpful on my own journey to tame those unruly emotions: 1. The Pre-Work Mental Check-in: Before I even open my laptop or head out the door, I take a moment. Sometimes it's five minutes of quiet meditation, other times it’s just a few deep breaths while sipping my coffee. I mentally ask myself, "How am I really feeling right now?" and acknowledge whatever comes up. This practice helps me gain awareness, rather than letting the mood take me by surprise later. It’s my version of telling my other personality to be prepared and mindful. 2. Identify Your Triggers: Over time, I’ve started noticing patterns. Is it stress from a looming deadline? Lack of sleep? A particular interaction? Pinpointing what sets off those 'moody vibes' allows me to anticipate and sometimes even avoid or mitigate them. If I know Mondays are tough, I plan something enjoyable for Sunday evening. 3. The 'Emotional Parking Lot': This is a game-changer! If an intense emotion or a frustrating thought pops up during work, especially in a meeting or a critical task, I mentally 'park' it. I tell myself, "Okay, I see you, frustration. I’m going to properly address you at 3 PM during my break." This isn't suppression; it's a commitment to process it later, allowing me to focus on the task at hand without letting the emotion derail me. 4. Mini-Breaks & Movement: When I feel a wave of emotion coming on, a quick change of scenery works wonders. A walk to the water cooler, stepping outside for 5 minutes, or even just doing a few stretches at my desk can reset my focus and help me regain composure. It’s amazing what a little physical activity can do for your mental state. 5. Reframe & Re-evaluate: Sometimes, our moods are fueled by negative interpretations. Instead of dwelling on what went wrong, I try to reframe the situation. "What can I learn from this?" or "Is this really as bad as it feels right now?" Often, stepping back gives me a more balanced perspective. 6. Post-Work Decompression: Just as important as regulating during work is letting go afterwards. Whether it’s journaling about my day, hitting the gym, listening to music, or simply venting to a trusted friend, having a ritual to shed the day's emotional weight prevents it from spilling into my personal life and recharging me for the next day. Remember, emotional regulation is a continuous process, not a destination. We all have bad days, and that's perfectly okay. The goal is progress, not perfection. Embrace your vulnerability, acknowledge your feelings, and find what works best for you to navigate those 'moody vibes' with grace and professionalism. You got this!
