... Read moreOkay, fellow foodies, let me tell you about my latest obsession: cornbread bowls! If you haven't tried making these yet, you're seriously missing out. I used to just think of cornbread as a side, but turning it into a bowl for your favorite fillings? Game changer for those easy & delicious dinner recipes! They’re not just incredibly delicious; they’re also super practical, especially for those busy weeknights or when you want to impress without a ton of fuss. Imagine all your favorite comfort foods nestled perfectly inside a warm, slightly sweet cornbread shell. It’s like a hug in a bowl, and clean-up is often easier too! Making the cornbread bowls themselves is simpler than you might think. I usually use a muffin tin for individual portions. Just press your cornbread dough (homemade or a good quality mix works wonders!) into greased muffin cups, creating a well in the center. Bake until golden and firm enough to hold their shape. The key is not to overfill them with batter so you have plenty of room for your delicious stuffing. Now, for the fun part: the fillings! This is where you can get really creative. I've tried so many variations, and honestly, it's hard to pick a favorite. For a classic, hearty meal, I love loading them up with a rich, savory chili, topped with plenty of shredded cheese and a dollop of sour cream – an absolute winner! Another go-to is shredded pot roast alongside creamy mashed potatoes and tender carrots. It's like a complete Sunday dinner, all in one edible vessel. But don't stop there! If you're a fan of soul food, you absolutely must try them with smoky ribs, a luscious creamy sauce, and some crispy pork rinds for texture, maybe even a few sliced jalapeños for a kick. Or how about a comforting combination of creamy macaroni and cheese, tender collard greens, and a flavorful meat stew? I’ve even done hearty spaghetti and meat sauce with a side of crispy fried fish for a truly unique twist. And for those who love a bit of sweetness, a scoop of mashed sweet potatoes can be a fantastic addition to almost any savory filling. The beauty of cornbread bowls is their versatility. You can go big with multiple components like mac and cheese, collard greens, and a rich stew, or keep it simple with just one main filling. They really fit the 'Clean girl Recipes cornbread bowl' vibe because you can make them as healthy or as indulgent as you like, using fresh ingredients and lean proteins. It’s a fantastic way to use up leftovers beautifully too! I find they make dinner feel special without a lot of extra effort. So, next time you're planning a meal, whether it's a cozy night in, a gathering with friends, or just looking for something new and exciting for dinner, give these cornbread bowls a try. Trust me, your taste buds (and your family!) will thank you!

A lot of people make their chili different. Some people use pinto beans some people use pork and beans. A lot of people eat their chili with cornbread, but I don’t. I love crackers with mine.
