For those who might be new to our illustrious history, Founders Day isn't just a date on the calendar; it's a powerful reminder of the vision and courage of our 22 phenomenal founders. Imagine, back in 1913, these extraordinary women at Howard University established Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, with a clear purpose: not just for social camaraderie, but for public service. They wanted to use their collective strength to advocate for change, uplift communities, and empower women, especially African American women, in a time when their voices were often marginalized. That commitment to scholarship, leadership, and service has been the cornerstone of our sorority for over a century. When I think about Founders Day, my mind often goes to the countless ways our chapters across the globe celebrate. It’s not always about grand galas, though those are wonderful too! Sometimes, it's the quiet moments of reflection, reading about our history, or connecting with sisters, new and old, to share stories and reaffirm our vows. Many chapters organize special service projects in their communities, continuing the legacy of our founders. We wear our crimson and cream with pride, attend virtual or in-person ceremonies, and often share personal reflections on what Delta means to us. It’s a day to recommit to the ideals that brought us together: sisterhood, scholarship, and service.
