Mara pt2

Hey Lemon8 fam! So many of you loved the first peek at Mara, my original character, and I'm beyond thrilled to share the second installment of her journey with you all! It’s been an incredible creative process, and I’m excited to dive into some of the details behind this digital art piece. When I start a new illustration for Mara, it's always an adventure in character design. This time, I really wanted to push her confident, playful side while maintaining that edgy vibe. That's why I chose the bold pink crop top – it just screams vibrant energy! Pairing it with the dark blue pants and a matching pink belt created a cohesive yet edgy look that I absolutely adore. Her signature long, blonde hair was a key element I focused on, ensuring it had that dynamic flow as she strikes a pose. Capturing the essence of an 'ORIGINAL CHARACTER' means paying attention to these small but significant details. Working in Procreate gives me so much freedom to experiment with colors and textures. For Mara, I spent a good amount of time perfecting the shading to make her pop against the subtle pink background. I love adding little details, like the Japanese text and those various graphic elements, to give the artwork an extra layer of personality. It truly brings my 'ORIGINAL CHARACTER' to life in a unique way. Sometimes a small cartoon character graphic can really tie the whole composition together, adding a whimsical touch and a bit of my own artistic flavor. The overall goal was to create a visual narrative that felt both fresh and familiar. For anyone out there trying to develop their own original characters, my biggest piece of advice is to really immerse yourself in their world. Think about their backstory, their likes, their dislikes, and how their personality would translate into their appearance. For Mara, I envisioned a strong, independent spirit, which guided my choices for her outfit, like that pink patterned crop top, and overall aesthetic. Don't be afraid to experiment with different styles and influences – whether it's street fashion, traditional art, or even animated characters, everything can inspire your next big idea. I've found that sketching multiple variations of outfits or different poses for the blonde woman helps solidify the character's identity before diving into the final digital art piece. It's about letting your creativity flow and not being afraid to iterate. It’s been an incredible journey bringing Mara to life, and I can't wait to hear what you guys think of this new piece.
