How to Begin Reading Your Bible: A Simple Guide

Starting your Bible-reading journey can feel overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be! Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you dive into Scripture and truly connect with God’s Word:

💛 Start with the Gospels (John First!)

The Gospels are all about the life, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus. Begin with John because it offers a beautiful, personal look at who Jesus is and why He came. Once you’ve finished John, explore Matthew, Mark, and Luke to see how each writer shares unique details of the same story.

💛 Pair Psalms and Proverbs

The book of Psalms reveals the heart of God, filled with prayers, songs, and raw emotions that help you connect deeply with Him. Meanwhile, Proverbs gives us the mind of God through wisdom for everyday life. Try reading a chapter from each daily to grow both spiritually and practically.

💛 Read Paul’s Letters

Paul’s writings are key to understanding how to live as a Christian. Start with these:

• Romans: A deep dive into salvation and faith.

• 1 & 2 Corinthians: Insightful letters about unity, love, and spiritual gifts.

• Galatians: A reminder of God’s grace and freedom in Christ.

• Ephesians: A guide to living a Christ-centered life.

Paul wrote 13 letters (or chapters) in total, but these are just a few of my favorites! His writings are filled with practical instructions and spiritual insights you can apply right away.

Why This Plan?

• The Gospels introduce you to Jesus and His story.

• Psalms and Proverbs reveal God’s heart and wisdom.

• Paul’s Letters guide you on how to live out your faith.

This simple structure provides a well-rounded start without feeling overwhelming. Give it a try, and let me know how it goes!

Start with shorter books like Psalms or John. Set daily reading goals, use a study guide, pray for understanding, and reflect on key lessons. Stay consistent.
