Blanket Rack

I was able to find this accordion rack at my local Goodwill, paint it and style it to add something to an empty wall.

Gone are the days of baskets that take up unnecessary space or blanket ladders.

👍Pros: You can easily access

- You can use them as decor to tie in colors for the season.

- It’s decor while it’s on the wall.

- Vintage look

🤔Cons: Needs to be taken apart to paint correctly.

- Needs extra stability because of weight so be sure that it has the metal holders on back.

@Just_peachyrach shared the idea of the larger accordion for ornaments. So I thought I would share for ideas even for the smaller one! Thanks so much for the sharing friend! ❤️ Visit the link I found for inspiration on Pinterest!

... Read moreFinding unique pieces at a thrift store truly feels like hitting the jackpot, doesn't it? My recent find, an old accordion-style rack, totally changed my living room game. If you're tired of blankets piling up or traditional ladders taking up too much floor space, let me tell you, a wall-mounted solution like this is a total game-changer. When I first spotted this wooden accordion rack, it was a bit dusty, but I immediately saw its potential. After a good clean and a fresh coat of black paint – yes, it was a little tricky to get into all the nooks and crannies, so be prepared to take it apart if you want a perfect finish – it was ready for its new life. The key is to make sure it's mounted securely. Mine had metal holders on the back, which is essential for stability, especially when it's holding several cozy throws. You want those pegs to hold firm! One of the things I love most about this setup is how it doubles as decor. Instead of just storing blankets, it displays them. I love arranging my throw blankets by color or texture, creating a little art piece on my wall. In the fall, I might feature mustard and maroon throws, and in the summer, lighter pastels. It really helps tie in seasonal colors and accents. It's so easy to access a blanket when you need one, too, unlike digging through a basket. But what if an accordion rack isn't quite your style, or you're looking for other ideas? There are so many fantastic blanket display ideas out there! For a more modern blanket holder look, consider sleek metal racks with clean lines. These can be freestanding or wall-mounted, offering a minimalist aesthetic. If space is a premium, a compact folding blanket rack can be a lifesaver, easily tucked away when not in use. For those who love a rustic or vintage vibe, keep an eye out for a classic vintage quilt rack. These often have beautiful woodworking and can beautifully showcase heirloom quilts. You can even find smaller versions that are perfect for a cozy corner. And if you're feeling extra crafty, there are tons of farmhouse craft ideas for DIY blanket storage. Think about repurposing an old wooden ladder or even creating a simple blanket wall rack DIY with some sturdy dowels and rope. Another tip for hanging a blanket effectively is to vary the folds. Sometimes I drape them loosely, and other times I fold them neatly to show off a pattern. The OCR also mentioned someone using a larger accordion for ornaments – what a brilliant idea for seasonal decor! You could totally adapt that for smaller throws or even scarves. This just goes to show how versatile these items are. Remember, whether you're looking for blanket storage on wall options or a stylish stand, the goal is to make it functional and beautiful. Don't be afraid to experiment with paint colors or even add small hooks to your rack for extra accessories. Happy decorating!

I’ve been in the search for a big one. I saw a group where they took antique Christmas ornaments and hung them on it, it’s gorgeous! I don’t think this would hold coats in our house, but I got an adorable antique coat tree about a year ago and it’s perfect, sturdy and classic.
