Roasted candy pecans are a versatile snack that can be customized with various spices and sweeteners to suit your taste preferences. Besides cinnamon, popular additions include nutmeg, cloves, or even a hint of cayenne pepper for a spicy kick. For those looking to enhance the flavor, adding a splash of maple syrup or honey in place of some sugar can provide a richer, natural sweetness. When roasting pecans, evenly coating every nut is crucial to achieve consistent caramelization and crunch. Using your hands to fold in the sugar mixture helps break apart clumps and ensures each pecan is fully covered. Maintaining a low oven temperature of around 300°F allows the sugar to slowly caramelize without burning, while frequent flipping ensures even cooking on all sides.
