WHY I DIDNT GET THE BIRTH VIDEO I WANTED

🩵 After everything calmed down after the birth i was scrolling through my phone in the dark room while my baby and husband slept peacefully, i was too in shock to sleep lol.

🩵 I went through my camera roll looking for photos or videos of the birthing process and was shocked to see absolutely nothing but a 10 second video of my gaping bl❤️❤️dy unmentionables…

🩵 The trauma of giving birth and all the anxiety around it can make us mothers forget or have foggy memory of our special day so prepare and plan accordingly if you’re planning of vide taping your journey!

🩵did you vlog / video tape your birth?

... Read moreWhen you're expecting, there's so much to think about, isn't there? From car seats to nursery colors, it feels like an endless list. But one thing many of us, myself included, might not spend enough time considering is our birth position. We often picture the classic hospital bed scenario, lying on our back, but trust me, there's a whole world of possibilities that can make a huge difference in your labor experience. Just like planning to record your birth – which, as you read, didn't quite go as planned for me – thinking about birth positions is a vital part of your overall birth plan. It’s not just about comfort; certain positions can actually make labor more efficient, help manage pain, and even aid in rotating your baby into the best position for delivery. It’s definitely a topic worth discussing with your medical team, including your nurses and head OB doctor, early on. Let's dive into some common birth positions and why you might consider them: Upright & Mobile (Walking, Standing, Leaning): Many women find early labor much more manageable when they can move around. Walking helps gravity do its work, and leaning on your partner or a birthing ball can offer immense relief, especially for back pain. It keeps your pelvis open and can help baby descend. Squatting: This is a powerhouse position for pushing. Squatting can increase the pelvic outlet by a significant amount, giving your baby more room to move. It uses gravity to your advantage, making your contractions more effective. You can squat with support from your husband, a squat bar, or even a birthing stool. Kneeling/On All Fours: If you're experiencing a lot of back labor or if your baby is in an 'occiput posterior' (sunny-side up) position, getting on your hands and knees can be a game-changer. It takes pressure off your spine and can help your baby rotate. It's also great for resting between contractions. Side-Lying: Sometimes, you just need to rest. Side-lying can be fantastic for conserving energy, especially if labor is long or you've had an epidural. It can still be an active pushing position and can be helpful for slowing down a very fast labor or for rotating a baby. Lithotomy (Lying on your back with legs in stirrups): This is the most common position in many hospital settings, especially if there's a need for medical interventions or closer monitoring, as it's often easiest for the medical procedure. While it provides excellent access for your medical team, it can work against gravity and potentially make pushing harder for some women. However, for others, it's comfortable and effective. It’s crucial to remember that while you can have clear preferences in your birth plan, labor is unpredictable. What feels right in one moment might not in the next. There might be unexpected medical procedures, or you might find yourself screaming in pain and just needing to find any position that offers a moment of relief. The most important thing is to be informed, discuss your options with your healthcare providers, and stay flexible. Your doctors and nurses are there to support you, and sometimes the best plan is to be open to how your body and baby guide you through the process. Focus on what feels best for you and your baby during your special day.
