I’ve cracked the code this is how I’m gentle parenting all summer because absolutely not I will not be repeating myself 7 times just for you to look at me smirk and do it again 2 minutes later. Enjoy your quad workout 😭

Parents y’all ok? Because if not I got a little hack for you called a wall squat and let me tell you I haven’t had to repeat myself since I started. She only had to sit on that wall twice for her to act right. And there is no age limit ok I put Hazel in one of these too she hasn’t come out that mouth side ways since and I haven’t raised my voice. I should’ve done this a long time ago.

Read moreAs a parent embracing gentle parenting, I've found that consistent communication without shouting or frustration can be quite a challenge—especially in the heat of summer when energy levels run high. The wall squat has become my go-to technique for managing challenging behavior calmly and effectively. Essentially, it’s a short, controlled moment where the child sits against a wall, giving them space to pause and reflect on their behavior without any harsh consequences involved. What I love most is how quickly it works. My child only needed to experience the wall squat twice before understanding what was expected, dramatically reducing the need to repeat myself multiple times. And this technique isn’t limited by age — I even used it with my toddler Hazel, who hasn't had those defiant moments since. The best part? I didn’t have to raise my voice once. This method blends exercise with discipline, so it’s slightly demanding physically (hello, quad workout for parents!) but it keeps interactions positive and respectful. I recommend parents try this during moments of misbehavior instead of naturally resorting to yelling or repetitive commands. It helps maintain a gentle parenting style while setting clear boundaries. If you’re looking for a peaceful, effective parenting hack to maintain calm and control through the summer, give wall squats a try. It’s taught me patience, minimized frustration, and transformed daily discipline into a more peaceful interaction you and your child can both benefit from.
