Tips on how to focus while studying!

Guys I love all the support tysm!

2025/7/25 Edited to

... Read moreHey everyone! I know the struggle of trying to focus when your to-do list feels endless and distractions are everywhere. For the longest time, I felt like I was just reading textbooks without anything sticking, and my grades definitely showed it. But I didn't give up! I started experimenting with different techniques, and I'm so excited to share the study methods that actually worked for me and completely transformed my focus and results. These aren't just generic tips; these are the strategies I personally swear by, helping me boost my grades and genuinely understand what I'm learning. First things first, creating the right focus study aesthetic made a huge difference. It might sound trivial, but having a designated, inspiring space helps signal to your brain that it's time to work. For me, that meant decluttering my desk, making sure I had all my study essentials within reach – open notebooks, my favorite pens, highlighters, and even correction tape, just like you see in those perfect study flat lays. A clean, organized environment minimizes visual distractions and makes the whole process feel less chaotic and more inviting. It’s amazing how much a little aesthetic effort can improve your mindset before you even open a book! One of the most powerful study tips that actually work for active recall is the Blurting Method. This technique is a game-changer! After reading a section or watching a lecture, I close my notes and simply write down everything I can remember about the topic, no matter how messy or fragmented. It’s like a brain dump. This isn't about perfect sentences; it's about getting ideas onto paper. Afterward, I compare what I've written with my notes, highlighting the gaps in my knowledge. This instantly shows me what I need to review, making my study sessions incredibly efficient and targeted. It's a fantastic way to identify what you truly know versus what you just passively recognized. Another method that revolutionized my understanding, especially for complex subjects, is the Feynman Method. The concept is simple: if you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough. I pretend I'm teaching the concept to someone else (or even a rubber duck!). I break down difficult topics into simpler terms, identify areas where I stumble, and then go back to my notes to clarify those points. This active process of teaching forces deep engagement with the material and ensures I grasp the fundamentals, rather than just memorizing facts. It's truly a test of comprehension. For those who love a bit of fun, the Jenga study method is surprisingly effective and helps break up monotonous study sessions. I write questions related to my study material on Jenga blocks. When it's my turn, I pull a block, answer the question written on it, and if I get it right, the block stays in play. If I get it wrong, I put it aside and review that topic later. It turns studying into an interactive game and is fantastic for group study, making learning enjoyable and memorable. It’s a great way to incorporate active recall without feeling like a chore. Finally, let's talk about scribble method studying. While similar to blurting, I often use the scribble method as a way to quickly process information during a lecture or while reading. Instead of detailed notes, I'll rapidly jot down keywords, draw small diagrams, or create quick mind maps as I'm learning. It's about active engagement and processing information in real-time, rather than just transcribing. This keeps my brain active and prevents passive consumption of material. Then, during review, I can use my scribbled notes as prompts for a more structured blurting session. Embracing these methods has been a journey, but seeing the improvement in my focus, understanding, and grades makes it all worth it. I truly hope these personal insights help you on your own study journey to find what actually works for you!
