Read moreHaving experimented with various ways of applying perfume over the years, I've found a few personal tips that truly make a difference in how long and beautifully a fragrance lasts throughout the day. Firstly, the importance of applying perfume on moisturized skin cannot be overstated. Dry skin tends to absorb the scent quickly, causing it to fade sooner. After showering, I generally use an unscented moisturizer before applying perfume, which helps lock in the fragrance for hours. Another invaluable tip is targeting pulse points precisely because those areas emit heat, which helps diffuse and amplify the fragrance. I focus on wrists, the neck area just below the jawline, and even behind my ears. Interestingly, I also lightly spritz perfume on my hair or scarf to create a soft, lasting trail without overwhelming. One common mistake I noticed is rubbing wrists together after spraying perfume, which actually breaks down the scent molecules and dulls the fragrance. Allowing your perfume to dry naturally preserves its intended scent profile. When it comes to quantity, less is indeed more. About 2-4 sprays are ideal; overdoing it can overpower not just yourself but those around you. Spraying from a distance of 6-8 inches helps achieve an even coverage without concentrating scent in one spot. I've also embraced layering by using matching scented lotions or oils alongside the perfume, which deepens and extends the aroma's presence. Lastly, I reapply strategically—perhaps midday or before a special occasion—rather than frequently, ensuring the scent evolves pleasantly throughout the day. These subtle yet effective techniques have definitely elevated my fragrance game, helping me step out each day with confidence and my unique signature scent.
