Iâm the meanest đđ¤Ł
Packing lunch for kids can be both an act of love and a daily challenge. I've found myself putting so much thought and care into preparing nutritious meals for my children, only to have half of it return uneaten. Itâs frustrating but also part of the journey of motherhood. Kids can be picky eaters, and convincing them to eat everything on their plates to 'grow big and strong' often feels like a battle. One thing that has helped me is involving my kids in the lunch-packing process. When they have a say in what goes into their lunchbox, they tend to be more excited about eating it. Also, rotating different foods and keeping lunches colorful and fun can encourage them to eat better. Another tip is to focus on balanced meals that combine protein, fruits, vegetables, and carbs in manageable portions. Sometimes packing smaller amounts can reduce waste and frustration. Iâve also learned that showing empathy and patience during mealtime helps build a positive experience. Instead of just telling them they have to eat, I try to explain why certain foods are good for their growth and energy. Itâs a work in progress, but these conversations help them understand the benefits. Despite the chaos - especially as a mum of four - these small moments of patience and creativity in lunch prep can turn into special times where I connect with my kids. Itâs not always perfect, and sometimes I do get called "mean" when I insist they finish their lunch, but at the end of the day, itâs all about nurturing their health with love.
